James Sullivan

Assistant Center Director - @Home
If your student has an opportunity to work in our @Home environment, they will be lucky enough to meet James! James is one of our most experienced Mathnasium instructors, and leads all instructional staff in the @Home platform. James' educational background includes an undergraduate focus on pre-med, with some engineering courses mixed in. His attraction to math began at an early age, but has only grown as he's learned more about what has been accomplished with math. James believes that math can be appreciated through something as basic as realizing that smartphones wouldn't exist without it, to something as complex as the fascinating explanation of the physical world and it's natural forces. We are thrilled that James feels that working at Mathnasium has been one of the most rewarding jobs he's had! Getting to witness kids learn to develop an appreciation for math as their skills and confidence grow gives James hope for the future - as he truly feels that math has the potential to help solve many future world problems through its application in technology and medicine.

Brennon Conner

Center Director
We are thrilled to welcome Brennon to Mathnasium of Downtown Silver Spring as our new Center Director! Brennon is a seasoned Mathnasium Assistant Center Director and instructor, who has worked in the Center for about a year. Brennon attended Widener University for his undergraduate studies, and was part of the inaugural class for their new Robotics Engineering program, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in 2022. Brennon has always been fascinated with the mechanics and processes that shape the world. From a young age, he had a desire to understand the reasons as to why everything worked the way it did, and as a result, math was an area that felt natural to him. Brennon believes that math concepts and logical thinking are knowledge/skills that everyone can understand and build with the right guidance. From the moment he first saw a Mathnasium hour and instructional approach, Brennon fell in love with the methods used to teach the students. Socratic questioning and providing students with the supported space to develop their own understandings truly resonated with him, and are a major part of why Brennon is part of the leadership team at Mathnasium. While at Mathnasium, Brennon has seen that every student who actively engages with the Mathnasium program flourishes -- and his sense of satisfaction in watching these transformations in real-time is a feeling unlike any other. Welcome Brennon!

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
