Amaechi Onyeali,
Center Director/Owner
Amaechi Onyeali is the owner and Center Director of the Mathnasium Evergreen Park. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Wilberforce University, a Master's Degree from Concordia University in Urban Education, and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from The American College of Education. He has worked in the Chicago Public Schools for 19 years as a Math coach, Math Specialist for the Chicago Math and Science Inititative, Middle school coordinator, and has taught all grades from kindergarten to 8th grade. Amaechi has received the Blum-Klover teacher of the year award and the Chicago Public School's distinguished D.R.I.V.E teacher of the year award. He enjoys working with students teaching mathematics and coaching basketball. The opportunity to teach math to students in a way that makes sense to them really resonates with him. Establishing a center on the Southside of Chicago and helping students build their confidence and skills in math has become his new mission. Amaechi is married to Christena Onyeali. They have two children, Malik and Kayla, who were the first students of Mathnasium of Evergreen Park.
Christena Onyeali
Co-Owner
Christena Onyeali is the owner and wife of Amaechi. She is a graduate of Loyola University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. She continued her studies and successfully attained her status as a Certified Public Accountant. She has devoted her CPA talents to the McDonald's Corporation of Oakbrook for the last 15 years. She is the recepient of the auspicious President's Award given to only the top 1% of McDonald's employees world wide in the company. She devotes her spare time to working with the girl scouts and Big Brother Big Sisters programs. As an accountant she truly believes the imporatnce of an excellent math instructional program. Christena loves traveling with Amaechi and their two children Kayla and Malik.
Latasha Petty,
Assistant Center Director
Latasha Petty is a middle school math teacher. She has taught middle school math for 10 years in the Chicago Public School District. Latasha attended DePaul University for her undergrad and graduate degrees where she recently received her Masters in Educational Leadership. Latasha is a passionate educator and has a love for teaching. She is also the coordinator of the SPARK program. Spark engages communities to provide career exploration and self-discovery opportunities that help middle school students understand, experience and pursue what’s possible. Latasha loves to exercise and spend time with her 4-year old daughter, Legacy, during her spare time.
Grace Eason,
Lead Instructor
Grace has been an Instructor at Mathnasium since February 2019. She recently graduated from Governor's State University with a degree in Mathematics. "I enjoy working at Mathnasium. I get a chance to develop kids mathematic abilities, show them they can do anything they put their mind to, and uplift them through any struggles." Grace spends her free time listening to music and doing new things with friends and family.
Alicia Weatherspoon,
Senior Instructor
Alicia attended Northwestern University where she earned a B.A. in Mathematics. Her course of study included Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, and Calculus I, II, and III. Alicia has informally tutored the children of friends, family, and church members for a number of years and is happy to have found a formal outlet to teach. She thoroughly enjoys engaging in the always lively interaction with the students at Mathnasium, because there is never a dull moment. Alicia is a lifelong learner and is currently pursuing an MBA.

McLean Milavickas,
Instructor
McLean Milavickas has been an instructor at Mathnasium since December 2017. He is currently attending University of Illinois at Chicago to earn a degree in physics. “I think the citizens of tomorrow should be well-equipped in math, even if their careers are not of that focus”. In his free time, McLean likes listening to and producing music.
Edward Vaughn,
Instructor
Edward Vaughn is a south side Chicago native and a prospective rockstar. He graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2016 with a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering. He’s been playing guitar for 10+ years now. He also enjoys doing fitness in his spare time. “Mathematics is scary for most people, but Mathnasium is doing the invaluable task of making math understandable, applicable and enjoyable for the youth. Glad to be a part of the team!”
