At Mathnasium, we help kids understand math by teaching the way that makes sense to them. Children who consistently attend sessions at our learning centers enjoy a transformative learning experience and make huge strides in the classroom.
Attitude: When math makes sense, kids develop a more positive attitude toward math.
Understanding: Mathnasium teaches for understanding, giving students the ability to succeed in any math environment. As Larry Martinek, Mathnasium’s Chief Instructional Officer notes, “It's pretty easy to forget things you memorize and near impossible to forget things you understand."
School Progress: When kids learn math in a way that they truly understand, they achieve greater success in the classroom.

"[They] seems much more professional than a normal tutor and I like that Mathnasium owns their own building and doesn't have to teach kids in the lobby of Starbucks like all the other tutors I see!"

"First of all, thank you for all your work with [my daughter] and your flexibility. She really enjoys working with you, she is learning AND retaining, and I can't tell how much stress it has taken out of all our lives! When I picked her up last night and asked her how it went, her reply was 'it was fun!' Good thing I was at a stoplight - Wow!"
- Carol, SLP-Edina customer
"We have been seeing her progress in front of our eyes every time she goes to Mathnasium. She is more confident and more willing to challenge math and stuff she has never done before; No struggle or whining about homework. We can actually relax and enjoy the night!

"Thank you for your continued support and education of my daughter! She loves going and I never have tears or resistance. That means almost as much to me as her learning experience."

"Thank you so much Travis. We are delighted with Mathnasium. It has increased our daughters confidence in math. And both our girls are getting A's now. I think confidence in math is so important for this generation. Plus you make it fun for them! We are thrilled. "

"I just wanted you to know that my daughter has received a 100% on the last TWO Geometry tests she has taken since enrolling in Mathnasium. This is something that has NEVER happened before in the world of [my daughter]. I think the most helpful part has been that you took the time to find where her gaps are, which could be from back in algebra, and you really focus on them. Teachers just aren't able to do that back in the classroom. She is extremely happy and we're very grateful for the support that you have been giving her. I wish I had been able to do this for my older kids as well! They all struggled with math, and even though this has been expensive, it is totally worth it! I will definitely be recommending Mathnasium for anyone else that talks to us!"

"Thank you for your assistance last night! My son came home and did his math homework in five minutes. He said the strategy you had taught him made the work much easier. I was very impressed that you did such a great job of getting him engaged in the process. Schoolwork is not his favorite thing. I can see how you make it fun with the opportunity to earn rewards for completed work. He was quite excited explaining it all to his Dad when we got home."- Val, SLP-Edina customer
"Our daughter Sophie has significantly improved her math skills since she started taking classes at Mathnasium. At the beginning of the school year, her tests did not surpass 60%. Once she started attending Mathnasium twice a week we noticed a significant progress on Sophie's test results, 91%, as well as an improvement on her disposition to do math homework. We no longer have to sit next to her for endless hours to complete the Math homework since she now understands what is expected. When new topics are covered, she attempts to use mathematical reasoning skills to solve a problem. Sophie has gained self-confidence that has transferred into other areas of her life. Thanks to everyone who has worked with her over the past several months. The instructors at Mathnasium are amazing; they make learning math a fun an interesting experience!"
"Our daughter began having challenges in math in the 2nd grade. When she began the 3rd grade year, math only got more and more difficult. Homework that should have taken minutes took hours and involved much gnashing of teeth and rolling of eyes. It was draining to the entire family. We brought her to Mathnasium shortly after the school year had begun for help. Her math skills were assessed and a plan put in place. We found that basic addition and subtraction were challenging for her, and yet in 3rd grade she was expected to begin learning multiplication tables. She began coming to Mathnasium twice a week for tutoring. She's been tutored for about four months now, and her progress has been nothing short of amazing. Concepts that were once beyond her comprehension -- and had been taught to her multiple ways by multiple teachers -- now make sense to her. We imagined that Marissa would need special tutoring and be behind in math for many years to come, if not for the rest of her education. She is now learning alongside her classmates and actually enjoys math. She can complete her math schoolwork easily and with little frustration. We are so thrilled with her progress and know that we have the tutors at Mathnasium to thank for it!"
"The most wonderful thing about all of this is that [my daughter] really looks forward to each Mathnasium class and was relaying to her school counselor that she feels - conceptually - she is getting better in math and has been able to say for first time in her life that "I like math". She is determined to get better and can't wait to get to Mathnasuim. Even her 12 year old brother exclaimed, when he visited your place, 'Wow - mom - this place is cool- and it doesn't even smell like its a math tutoring place - it actually smells GOOD' whatever that's supposed to mean:) Take care- and again THANK YOU for all the collaboration and support!"
"I've always struggled with math but now with Mathnasium I feel more confident. The tutors are very helpful, they help me with my homework and my test prep, and I actually look forward to going there!"
"Alex was struggling with math and my husband and I were struggling with understanding his math homework! It became a nightly fight because my husband and I looked at math in a completely different way from how it is taught in schools today so we were not communicating effectively or helping at all. Also, all three of us dreaded the standarized tests. We started at Mathnasium this past summer and it has been a great success for our family! Alex sometimes grumbles about going twice a week but he always has fun when he gets there and I am delighted to report that his MCA score jumped 16 points this Fall!"
"It has been great to work with Travis at Mathnasium. That tutoring center has been great to work with and they truly have a philosophy of collaboration and teaming with the teacher for the betterment of the student. The sign of a good tutor is someone willing to work with the child's teacher and support the teaching and learning in the classroom, and not charge an arm and a leg to do so. Thank you so much for your support!"
"[My daughter] came home and said "Mom, I finally get it! I never thought I would get it!" Makes me feel so good that she has confidence in her abilities! Thanks so much :)"
