Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:


Peter Garcia, Center Director 

Peter is the Center Director of Mathnasium of Tamiami. Peter first began his journey with   Mathnasium in the summer of 2015 where he instantly fell in love with the environment and   the Mathnasium approach. Nothing brings a smile more to Peter’s face than when a student   finally understands a topic that they have been struggling with, and he aims to see that   smile on all of his students’ faces.


Hobbies: Dungeons and Dragons, and reading books

Fun Fact: Peter has been with Mathnasium for five years!

Savanna, Assistant Center Director

Savanna has always had a passion for math and education, dreaming about becoming a teacher. She enjoyed any volunteer opportunities at her church in children ministries or at schools in the classroom! After graduating from the International Baccalaureate program from Coral Reef Senior High School, she tried different avenues of career paths but finally decided towards her passions with Exceptional Student Education at Miami Dade College. Her goal is to become a stay-at-home mom and have a small side business probably with math, education, or both!


Hobbies: volunteering, taking online classes

Fun Fact: Savanna has always wanted to be a teacher, so working at Mathnasium is like her dream job!

Nicole, Lead Instructor

Nicole is an instructor at Mathnasium Tamiami. She is currently a junior at FIU majoring in International Business and is a part of Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity. Nicole graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at John A. Ferguson Senior High School, where she was a part of the National Honors Society and Math Honors Society. She hopes to use her knowledge of mathematics to help students here at Mathnasium succeed.

Catherine, Lead Instructor

Catherine is currently studying Mathematics at Florida International University. Prior to becoming a tutor, Catherine volunteered for four years at her former elementary school and then upon graduating she was hired as an aftercare counselor where she worked with her former teachers to provide homework help and classroom activities for the students. Ever since 5th grade Catherine has been interested in math, even taking college level math courses during high school. She finds algebra a cakewalk and calculus a breeze. Catherine has a passion for math and it's fundamental makeup. She hopes to inspire others to enjoy math and not be afraid of numbers. 

Hobbies: playing the piano, traveling, and running

Fun Fact: Catherine's goal is to be a college math professor 

Favorite Number: 6, perfect number according to the Pythagoreans

Andrew, Instructor

Andrew was born and raised in Miami. He has a master's degree from the University of Central Florida. Andrew enjoys teaching, eating, and listing things in threes. He loves animation, art, and music. He always encourages curiosity and creativity.





Hobbies: drawing and playing video games

Fun Fact: Andrew's first and middle names (Charles and Andrew respectively) are both retired hurricane names that have struck Florida.

Vanessa, Instructor

Vanessa is currently a senior in Saint Brendan High School. Born and raised in Miami, Vanessa grew up helping her family with school work. When she reached high school , she began volunteering in tutoring. Now, she enjoys helping other kids in Mathnasium learn math!




Hobbies: Reading, Playing Basketball, and Spending time with family

Fun Fact: Vanessa actually saved her house from a fire!

Ana, Instructor

Ana was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She recently graduated from Florida International University with a degree in Atmospheric Science and a minor in math and computer science. She has been a huge weather nerd ever since she was a kid and loved to watch weather-related shows and news. Math has long been her favorite subject, and it has always been fulfilling to help someone understand a math concept that wasn't clicking for them. She plans to continue studying atmospheric science and all the math behind it and hopes to eventually get a PhD in the subject.


Hobbies: Playing video games, playing the piano

Favorite Number: e (also known as Euler's number, a mathematical constant approximately equal to 2.71828)

Fun Fact: I have been playing the piano for over 10 years

Favorite Math Joke: A farmer had 97 cows in his field, but when he rounded them up he had 100.


Esteban, Instructor

Esteban is a charismatic, light-hearted guy. He loves math and enjoys a nice talk about triangles. He studied a whole deal of math and reached all the way until Multivariable Calculus. He is currently on track to achieve his life’s greatest goal, becoming a doctor. His kind-hearted nature stems from his passion of helping as he has volunteered at his local parish to feed the homeless in downtown Miami. He hopes he can share his passion for math with others and help those in need of answers.




Hobbies: video games, puzzles, chess, basketball and cooking

Fun Fact: Is a huge anime fan. Ask him about anything; he probably knows it.

 Ryan, Instructor

Ryan is studying Information Technology at Florida International University. With a background in programming, he uses his knowledge to help students understand math problems and how they’re used in a real-world setting. Ryan is also an avid fisherman in the Florida Keys.





Hobbies: Fishing, programming, and playing video games

Fun Fact: Ryan is an expert Guitar Hero player
