When coming in as new Center Director for Mathnasium of Algonquin, Hope Marie Vitale noticed something was missing in the center, something that would make any space feel less than home. An American Flag. Mathnasium of Algonquin prides itself on being a mecca of culture and knowledge, much like the country she has loved her whole life. A country that is a melting pot of ethnicities, cultures, religions, and opinions. Mathnasium of Algonquin also wanted to honor those who have fought, and died, for the rights of this country and all those who live here to maintain those very things. The students, parents, instructors, and management of Mathnasium all enjoy the freedoms and liberties granted to us by those who have paid with their lives to fight for. The flag represents them and us. Having a flag presentation seemed only right for the occasion and as such Mathnasium has asked our local Veterans of Foreign Wars charter to bring their Color Guard on Friday May 26th at 12:00pm, along with a special vocal guest to perform the National Anthem. A luncheon to follow. All the families of the center are invited!

The students will also be writing letters to active-duty military, each letter will be accompanied by a hand drawn and custom designed pillowcase for them to use while they are away from home. Something soft for them to lay their heads on and just a small reminder that they are loved, appreciated and so important to us all back at home.

Saying “thank you” will never measure up to enough for the men and women who have served this great nation. So many of whom have lost their lives. We cannot express the gratitude we have, nor the heartfelt love we feel. Your sacrifice will never be in vain, and we will never forget the cost of our freedom.

All gave some and some gave all.
