At Mathnasium, we help kids understand math by teaching the way that makes sense to them. Children who consistently attend sessions at our learning centers enjoy a transformative learning experience and make huge strides in the classroom.
Attitude: When math makes sense, kids develop a more positive attitude toward math.
Understanding: Mathnasium teaches for understanding, giving students the ability to succeed in any math environment. As Larry Martinek, Mathnasium’s Chief Instructional Officer notes, “It's pretty easy to forget things you memorize and near impossible to forget things you understand."
School Progress: When kids learn math in a way that they truly understand, they achieve greater success in the classroom.

The Bay Area Parent did the numbers and found Mathnasium works!
"Wanted to tell you I was so impressed with Henry this morning. I finally got back in the classroom and ran one of my small groups for AM. I pulled Henry, Kaden, and Ben, and they were a great group. Henry, in particular, was so confident and interested in the math, explaining to the other boys. He was much more comfortable with the topic (I would even describe it as "mature") than when I've approached him with math in the past."
Multiplication vs. Darth Paper!
Having learned the algorithm for multi-digit multiplication today, Will takes on a challenge problem: 4,231 x 3,582 and checks his answer with a calculator. Will he have success? Did the influence of origami "Darth Paper" and the dark side of the force foil Will in his attempt to master this algorithm? (Thank you to our instructor, Kristina, for catching this on video!)
"My 14 year old daughter got in the car after her last tutoring session and said, 'Tutoring is amazing. I love it!' She explained she is learning a lot but actually having fun too. That is a new concept for her because math has always been anything but fun. She has struggled in math for years and resisted getting help. We had to do some serious convincing to get her to go.
"So, as a parent I absolutely love that she sees the value in going to Mathnasium!! Her new attitude towards math, and the confidence she has gained make the expense well worth it! :)"
Just wanted to tell you that Hope enjoys going to Mathnasium! She said she took a test last Friday and when the teacher posted the scores today, she did a double take because she was in the top 3! Thank you!
"Our daughter is a high school freshman who has struggled with math for years. We started Mathnasium in late October and saw her math grade improve from a C- to a solid B by the end of the semester.
"What's even better is that -- because they spend time doing current homework AND building skills lacking from way back to elementary school -- our daughter is truly making progress in understanding math, not just applying yet another band-aid to get through another course.
"The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and flexible in working with busy schedules."
Thanks SOOOO much for your help. It is clear that without your help they would not have been ready to go on to Geometry next year! Not only that, they have thoroughly enjoyed their time with you.?
"I was so excited to come today! ... Because, I get to learn at my own pace, and take breaks, and you guys just make it fun. I get to play games. I was waiting all day at school to come here."
