Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Amanda Barbian

Assistant Center Director
Amanda holds a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, where she also attended a teacher preparatory program for 5-12 Mathematics. She has 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring math, including 2 years teaching at a charter school high school in Brooklyn Park. Amanda’s favorite thing about math is that there are so many flexible ways to think about it and solve problems. When working with students she loves discovering new ways to communicate math in ways that make sense to the student, so that they can feel more confident! When not teaching, Amanda is usually working on a new craft, playing board games at home, or having fun with her lab-mix, Lily.

Bryce grew up in Blaine and currently resides there with his parents and two sisters. Bryce graduated from Spring Lake Park High School and is considering going to college to become a math teacher. He enjoys finding tricks/shortcuts in math that make the problems simpler or more intuitive. He was the captain of his high school math team, which made it to state twice over his high-school career. When not at Mathnasium you will find Bryce playing video games, reading, anime, or doing math. A little-known fact about Bryce is that in high school he played video games professionally.

Since graduating he has tutored students in math through both the Upward Bound program and private tutoring. Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
