Fernanda Melo, Instructional Coordinator & Center Director
Fernanda Melo earned both a Bachelor's (Magna Cum Laudae) and Master's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. She also completed a Minor in Education from the same university and all the requirements to become a Certified 6-12 Mathematics Teacher for Florida. She has five years experience as a Math teacher teaching grades 6 through AP Calculus grade 12, as well as experience in teaching college level math courses including College Algebra, Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry. Her love for math, teaching and really making a difference brought her to Mathnasium. Her strongest belief when it comes to teaching is that no child is incapable of understanding math and learning it and every child can be successful!
Colin G Smith, Assistant Center Director, ILP Operations
Colin is a graduate of Boone High School currently attending the University of Central Florida where he is studying Electrical Engineering. While in Boone, he assisted teaching students in the William R. Boone High School Orchestra. Colin has been with Mathnasium since 2014. He really enjoys being a part of the Mathnasium team where he can make learning math fun!
Kai Suganuma, ILP Operations Assistant, Lead Instructor
Kai is a proud graduate of Boone High School and the University of Florida with a degree in Anthropology. Kai has excelled in school earning multiple student of the year awards along with Valedictorian status. He has taken math courses up to Calculus III/Differential Equations and has experience teaching (Geometry and Pre-Calculus in particular) as a substitute teacher. He has completed the requisites for becoming a Certified 6-12 Mathematics Teacher for Florida and would love to use his experience to help your child succeed.
David Hammond, Senior Instructor
David is a student at the University of Central Florida, where he studies Biomedical Sciences and Computer Science. David is a CRLA certified tutor with a passion for math and science who holds a position tutoring at the college level as well as with Mathnasium, giving him experience tutoring a very wide range of age groups in an even wider range of subjects. His passion for helping others has lead him to develop a thorough understanding of what it takes to guide children through learning in a way that maximizes their independence, enjoyment, and overall growth.
William Tecchio, Senior Instructor
Nadia Williams, Instructor
Nadia has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida completing courses such as Calculus I, II and III, Statistics for Engineers, and Linear Algebra. Math has always been one of her favorite subjects and she tutored several friends in college Algebra. Always around many of her young cousins, she also enjoys being around kids. To help students understand and enjoy math is an exciting privilege for her!
