Meet the Team at Mathnasium of Beverly Hills

Amir

Aside from Mathnasium, Amir also tutors at various high schools in the LA area. Amir has been teaching math at all levels for almost a decade, both as a tutor and as faculty at community colleges. He loves working with children and making their lives easier by explaining math simply!

Romi

Romi is a current 4th year at UCLA getting a Bachelors of Science in Psychobiology. Romi used to be a Mathnasium instructor in her hometown of Alameda, CA in high school and is excited to continue working at Mathnaisum during her time as an Undergraduate. She enjoys working with kids and aspires to work in Pediatrics in the future.

Tomomi

Tomomi Shaw is a Senior at Shalhevet high school. Her favorite math section is pre calculus and in her free time enjoys playing soccer and going to the beach. She is excited to be part of the Mathnasium team.

Alex

Alex is a current 4th year at UCLA majoring in Applied Mathematics. Although math is often a difficult subject for many, Alex believes that every student can improve with enough practice and guided instruction. Math shouldn’t be feared, but admired for its impact across multiple disciplines. Alex enjoys seeing how much students improve during their time at Mathnasium.

Devin

Devin is a senior at John Marshall High School. He was inspired to join the Mathnasium team as he was once an attending student. The instructors helped him excel in math, leading to him taking AP Calculus B/C in highschool. Now he aims to make the same impact on students and be part of their growth in math. In his free time, Devin loves to run, hang out with friends, watch movies and TV shows, and play and watch sports.

Ariel

Ariel Moheban is a high school senior at Shalhevet high school. He enjoys getting to know each of the students and helping them grow in their knowledge of math, especially in algebra. In his free time, he loves going to the gym, hanging out with friends, traveling and going to the beach.

Sophia

Sophia is currently a Senior at Bevely Hills highschool. She loves working with kids. She is currently the student body secretary and is the secretary for 7 clubs on campus. She has 3 younger cousins that sparked her love for children

Naomi

Naomi is excited to help others reach their math potential. In their free time, they enjoy tennis, traveling, painting, and spending time with friends.

Dan Saposhnik

Dan graduated from the University of Arizona in 1985 with a B.S. in Microbiology and from Hofstra University's Graduate School of Business in 1990 with an MBA in Accounting. He worked as a CPA with public accounting firm Price Waterhouse and has built successful companies in various fields including real estate and executive recruiting. Dan's passion for teaching and love for working with kids is rooted in family tradition. His mother was a highly regarded principal for nearly 30 years. Dan has taught and tutored children of all ages and was a mentor for underprivileged children. Dan is committed to significantly increasing Beverly Hills children's math skills, their understanding of math concepts and their overall school performance. "We provide lots of warm encouragement in a very positive learning environment so that children build their confidence and develop a winning attitude towards math. Our kids learn math in a way that makes sense to them. They get excited about math and this spirit carries over into everything they do."

Laurie Saposhnik

Laurie graduated from UCLA in 1986 with a B.A. in Communication Studies. Prior to joining Mathnasium, Laurie worked for various Fortune 500 high tech companies such as IBM, SAP, EMC, TIBCO and MicroStrategy. Laurie's passion for teaching and love for working with kids is rooted in family tradition. Her father taught special education at the high school level for over 30 years in California. Laurie is committed to partnering with the Beverly Hills community to increase Beverly Hills children's math skills, their understanding of math concepts and their confidence in their ability to be successful.
