Brentfest Booth!

Jun 19, 2019 | Brentwood

We have only been in Brentwood for 10 weeks now, but we are already starting to learn that Brentwood residents love a good party!

To celebrate the city's 50th birthday, an outdoor concert was held at Crockett Park last Saturday. Although we suspect people showed up for the music and the food trucks, we were delighted to have so many families stop by our booth for puzzles and games! First and foremost a math tutor, Mr. Alex was happy to oblige as a long line of kids waited to answer mental math questions such as "Half of what number is 7 and a half?" or "Three-fifths of what number is 9?" Originally this was done in jest, but the kids took to it and we are pretty sure the line was longer for math questions than for the bouncy houses!

In addition to mental math, families really took to our Hopping Maze. It took us a while to learn that there was a rule that parents had to be in the ballfields while their child was in the bouncy houses. This resulted in the odd scene of parents standing by the fence as if they were in jail while rehearsing the steps they would take! Those mazes are certainly one of our favorite puzzles!

Math mazes for days!

Overall, we could not have been happier with the event! A number of parents expressed interest in a free assessment for their child, so we look forward to helping them with summertime math as we prepare for the school year.

Block By Block is a crowd favorite!
