Mathnasium of Algonquin, Buffalo Grove, Crystal Lake & South Elgin wants to introduce you to our Owner, Michael Ammer

Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: Opening a Mathnasium center would allow me to combine my love of children and math while providing a valuable service to the community.

Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: There are a lot of kid centric activities in this community. The schools in this area are considered very good schools.

Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: We are very active with-in the Chamber of Commerce and with the park district. We sponsor many school and PTA/PTO events.

Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: I have always had a passion for math. In High School, I would go to the math class during my study period and help the students that were having a hard time. The teacher loved that I offered to do this. It actually made my math skills even better and the students enjoyed my help much more than the teachers. My two favorite teachers in High School were my math teacher #1 and my Science teacher #2.

Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: I have always been good at math, it came easy to me. I still remember the week of Mathnasium training I went to in Los Angeles. There were so many things they taught us. I could not help thinking, ""WOW, this makes so much sense and it is so much easier to think about solving a problem the way it was shown. Why don't we teach kids this way in school!"" We Make Math Make Sense is not just a tag line, it is what we do!

Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in Buffalo Grove? A: Fun things I like to do around the city. There are so many great parks, trails and restaurants in this city. Way to many name but you know the ones I mean. There are a couple of lakes I like to drop a line in when I get a chance. "
