t’s not so that kids could become rocket scientists, but to enable them to be strong, non-routine problem solvers. It’s so that they can think outside of the box and think early in life. But the way to teach math is also important because teaching math the wrong way can be harmful and might even kill a child's interest in math.
Teaching understanding and making math make sense are critical. It’s hard to forget things you understand but it’s pretty easy to forget things you memorize.
When a child is taught number sense since early in their life, they will have a strong foundation for their future. We believe that when children have confidence in math, they will have confidence for life.
