Congratulations to the Brag Board Winners at Mathnasium of Southland! ๐
What is a Brag Board winner, and how does one earn this title?
A Brag Board Winner is someone who, within a month, completes the most mastery checks for their level, earning the right to โbragโ about their progress and success at Mathnasium. Hereโs how a student can become a Brag Board Winner:
Consistent Attendance: Regular and frequent math sessions help transfer information from short-term to long-term memory, reinforcing concepts. Consistent attendance enables students to make more progress and complete more work, leading to more mastery checks.
Mastery Checks Completed: A Mastery Check is the final page of a prescriptive that students must complete independently to demonstrate proficiency in a concept. It acts as a mini-quiz to test understanding and retention. Completing several Mastery Checks in a month allows students to โbragโ about their achievements.
Prescriptives Completed: A prescriptive is a small packet of material focused on one key part of a concept, designed to practice and reinforce patterns. Based on assessment needs, prescriptives form the overall learning plan. They range from 8-25 pages, starting with easier problems and progressing to more difficult ones, culminating in a Mastery Check.
Levels of Competition: Brag Board winners are chosen based on grade levels: lower elementary (grades K-3), upper elementary (grades 4-6), middle school (grades 7-9), and high school (grades 10-12). Students compete within their grade level.
Becoming a Brag Board Winner requires dedication to attendance and progressing through the materials. Those who work hard to complete their learning plan prescriptives are rewarded with 5 cards, which they can trade for gifts of their choice.
