Lisa Howell, Center Director

Lisa holds a BS in Mathematics with a minor in Electrical Engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. She is very patient with children while she helps them learn math and always enjoys the moments when they "get it."

Favorite number: 3, because it is the only number that is both a Fermat ((2^2^n) + 1) and Mersenne prime ((2^p)-1).

Math joke: It is impossible to trisect an angle using a straightedge and a compass - partially because nobody knows where to find a compass anymore.

Unique attribute: Lisa has assembled her own computer.

Rebecca has a B.S. in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from Towson University. She is currently working as a Computer Scientist at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Rebecca has been with Mathnasium of California MD since it opened in February of 2016. She loves seeing how excited students get when they finally understand a topic they've been struggling with for a long time.

Favorite Number: 21, because it is 3 times as lucky as the number 7!

Favorite Math Joke: Why are obtuse angles always so sad? Because they're never right!

Interesting Fact: Rebecca is a lover of fantasy novels and has written three of her own.

Sam Hall, Instructor

Sam recently graduated Chopticon High School and is currently attending CSM pursuing a degree in computer science. He enjoys seeing students improve over time and becoming more confident with their math abilities.

Favorite Number: 3; she is the third child in her family, her birthday is on April 3, and her favorite shape is a triangle

Favorite Math Joke: The math limerick ( (12 + 144 + 20 + 3 Sqrt[4]) / 7 ) + 5*11 = 92 + 0

(Read as: A Dozen, a gross, and a score
Plus three times the square root of four
