3 Math TED Talks that are worth a listen
Apr 10, 2019
Eddie Woo describes mathematics as a practical world, not some dark mysterious place of mindless computation. He says that everyone has a mathematical sense that can be fostered with support. If we look at the world around us, it is full of patterns, all relating back to mathematics.
Dan Finkel emphasizes the importance of viewing mathematics as a critical thinking process of problem solving, not simply a world full of rigid operations. We should ask questions that incite students’ problem solving skills.
Phylecia Jones talks about the importance of supporting girls in math education. We want to encourage them in their studies to prevent them from being discouraged by math and feel like they will not be able to succeed at it. We should support them and tell them they ARE good at math!
We are currently delivering the Mathnasium experience via video-conference instruction. We are assessing and enrolling students by video-conference as well. Please call us at (202) 888-6882 to get started!
