Our Mathnasium Leadership Team:

Jonathan Hamel

After graduating from St. Albans School, Jonathan earned his BA in Economics at Wake Forest University and his International MBA in a joint degree program between the University of South Carolina and the WirtschaftuniversitÓ“t Wien in Austria. With a background in economics and a career in finance spanning nearly 20 years, he knows the importance of building a strong foundation in math. As a runner and former lacrosse player, Jonathan was quickly drawn to the idea of developing math skills in much the same way that athletes train to perfect their physical abilities. Jonathan enjoys working with children and is currently a volunteer coach for his sons' lacrosse team.

Laura Hamel

Laura is excited to welcome children and parents to Mathnasium and help kids learn math in a way that makes sense to them! Currently raising three sons in Coral Gables, Laura understands the high value families in our community place on education.  Laura graduated from Wake Forest University with a BS in Business and worked several years in software publishing. After discovering Mathnasium and opening their first center in 2014, Laura and her husband knew they had found the perfect way to combine their passion for children and education.

Daniela Gayol

Daniela graduated from the University of Miami in 2014 with a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a Minor in Computer Science. She enjoys engaging in stimulating games and puzzles with kids as well as helping them develop a true love for Math. Daniela joined the Mathnasium team in 2015 as an Instructor and is now part of the Leadership Team. She feels her greatest accomplishment has been revolutionizing the way kids think about difficult Math concepts and seeing their confidence truly blossom as a result of their understanding.

Elizabeth Fraga

Elizabeth has always had a passion for working with children and guiding them through their education. She attended Florida International University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.  She was a Program Director for ten years at the YMCA of South Florida and a MDPS Interventionist Teacher for three years.

Jenny Colletti

Jenny has always had a passion for teaching.  She believes there is more than one way to solve every problem, and loves helping children develop their own sense of problem solving and critical thinking.  She graduated from the University of Miami, where she majored in Math and Sociology, and has been part of the Mathnasium team since 2013. She enjoys seeing the difference she makes in children's lives every day at Mathnasium.

Josh Lugo

From a young age, Josh was fascinated with patterns and strategy. This naturally led him to chess, which helped refine his critical thinking skills for the rigors of math. He understands the value of teacher-student relationships - his best teachers were always those who tried to connect with him as an individual, so he models this approach with every new student that walks into Mathnasium. Josh is a Gates Millenium Scholar and has a BS in Mathematics from the University of Miami.

Lauren Bean

After graduating from Vassar with degrees in Elementary Education and English, Lauren spent several years in the classroom.  She understands the importance of a solid foundation in math and keeping both sides of the brain engaged and active. Lauren has also started her own creative business and earned her children's yoga instructor certification.  She is excited to work with Mathnasium families to encourage and celebrate each individual learner.

Meg Kelley

Originally from the Boston area, Meg attended the University of Miami, where she triple majored in Mathematics, Gender Studies, and Political Science.  She began working at Mathnasium as an Instructor during her first year of college and immediately knew that she had found her passion.  Meg believes that the most important skill students gain at Mathnasium is confidence.
