Mathnasium learning centers for kids offer math in a fun environment! Practice elementary skills such as fractions and multiplication, as well as units of measure, in the word problem below.

Humans require water regularly to survive. We're supposed to drink approximately 8-10 glasses of water a day. We can go without water for about 4 days. But did you know that camels can go MONTHS without drinking any water?! Incredible, right?

Practicing a little bit of math every day is just as important as drinking water every day. Our Mathnasium learning center offers a fun environment for students to learn, practice, understand, and master their math skills. Whether you're looking for a tutor or just want a regular math workout to keep your brain muscles sharp and fit, we've got the program for you!

Start today, with our Word Problem Challenge! Practice some elementary school math skills, like fractions, multiplication, and units of measurement in the word problem below:

Answer: 1386/13 gallons per hour

Solution: Since the camel drinks 30 gallons in 13 minutes, that means it’s drinking 30/13 (or 24/13) gallons per minute. There are 60 minutes in an hour, so the camel can drink at a rate of 30/13 × 60 = 1,800/13 = 1386/13 gallons per hour.
