We have been with Mathnasium for almost four years both in person and virtually. My child has gone from behind in Math to taking advanced math in that time period. While they will likely never love math and continur to have to work harder than some classmates, the differce in confidence, skill, and test scores has been transformative.

Mathnasium follows all of the principles of the science of learning. Their method makes math stick. My kids now excel at math because they followed the Mathnasium method through the curriculum; we did not use them only for homework help. We used them so our kids would be masterful in math and now they are. My oldest did not take SAT and ACT prep courses. She studied her way through Mathnasium so she would be capable in math, and then she scored 700 on the math SAT. She also demonstrates math ability in all of her classes in school. This will serve her well in life.

Our family is very happy we made the decision to send our daughter to the Chapel Hill, NC Mathnasium. The staff is excellent, they provide regular feedback on proficiency, and our daughter’s Math 3 honors grade increased from a high C to a high B over the first semester. We highly recommend their services.

My daughter had an experience in class today that reminds us of why we appreciate Mathnasium. Her geometry teacher explained a concept and most of the class didn’t understand. She sat in her small group and nobody understood what to do. She decided she would look at it differently and figure it out. She explained her approach to the group, and they all completed the math problems her way. When they gave the teacher their work, her teacher commented that they didn’t do the assignment as instructed but they are all correct. She has been in a few situations like this, and I’m glad that she can pull back and resolve it herself. This is exactly the kind of math knowledge we hoped she would learn.

Both my son and daughter (she is now in college) have had fantastic experiences with Mathnasium! I have and do recommend it to anyone with kids who are interested - struggling or gifted - to do it. We've had a great experience. And the online version has been a huge bonus with Covid. We will stick with that option, even when Covid subsides because we don't have the down time for travel!

We've been working with Mathnasium for a few years, and we are surprised and relieved by how successful this program has been for our children. Now that our children are middle and high schoolers, they can demonstrate their math knowledge on significant tests like the SATs and through high grades in challenging and advanced math courses. The most exciting development from Mathnasium is that our daughter is now interested in a chemistry major, and she wouldn't have been able to access that interest if Mathnasium didn't clear the path for her with math competence.

Liked the personalized experience. I like the intermittent feedback and update on progress. The owners are extremely responsive and helpful and friendly. My son learned a lot and had a very good experience. The one thing I did not like was the a limited time and day availability. Especially during the summer I feel like six days a week with more time slot availability is needed. Morning and afternoon. Made it very difficult for us to get there as much as we needed to to learn the material.

My son really needed a one-on-one experience and Mathnasium provided that at a really reasonable cost. Mathnasium in Chapel Hill SAVED US! We are forever grateful for, especially, the owner, who was able to figure out EXACTLY what Oliver needed. And he was able to adjust tutoring, schedules, how much and exactly the process that was used by the Excellent tutors, who are So Wonderful with these students! All around our BEST experience around education ever! We are taking a break for summer, and we will be back before summer ends. It’s also likely we’ll want to enroll Ollie’s little brother at that time.
Also~ Do you all offer services or have recommendations in Chapel Hill for a rising 12th grader and rising 9th grader on 1) scheduling/planning out a strategy of attack for courses, assignment completion, studying for tests, etc., 2) good study skills habits, and 3.). Good written note-taking skills? We would REALLY like our middle and youngest sons to have this type of tutoring over summer so that they are more ready to go in the fall, especially after being virtual for school over the past 1 1/2 years of school.

Everyone at Mathnasium is very knowledgeable on the subject matter. In addition- they are incredibly patient with the children and take their time to learn about their learning style.
It is amazing how well they know each child and how much time they dedicate to ensure that they are learning and enjoying the process as well. The staff members exercise kindness and patience with the kids, which is important as some kids have challenges focusing, challenges/barriers with math..."I can't do it", "I'm not as smart as other kids", etc. At Mathnasium Chapel Hill our 6th grade son has learned to move past those hurdles and gain increased confidence in the classroom. Our daughter has been going to Mathnasium for over a year now. She was really struggling in the beginning but has gained confidence, knowledge, and skill in that time. As a young teenage girl, building confidence in math I think is helping her overall confidence in herself. Chris __ (? - supervises the tutors) is an asset to Mathnasium-Chapel Hill. I regret I cannot recall his last name. He's patient, kind, and very caring. Overall, our son has had good experiences with the tutors except once when a tutor was playfully teasing him, attempting to encourage him to strive harder, and our son took it poorly. We tried to mollify his reaction and it all worked out. Some kids respond to challenging by teachers, coaches, etc....ours, unfortunately, does not for the most part. On the whole, we've been very pleased with Mathnasium Chapel Hill, our son has said that it has helped him greatly. Kudos to the owners and the staff.

My daughter was a C/D pre-algebra student with significant holes in her foundational skills. After four months at Mathnasium of Chapel Hill, she was able to pass a placement test putting her in Algebra for 8th grade, which her teacher had originally said she wasn't ready for. Her teacher couldn't believe the progress she made over the summer spent at Mathnasium. She is currently an A/B Algebra student who enjoys math and comments how much more sense it makes to her now. I continue to take my child to Mathansium, and she loves going. The instructors are all nice and knowledgeable. Plus, the owners are genuinely concerned in helping your child succeed. They are two of the kindest people I've ever met.

We signed up our high school junior to help improve his SAT Math score. At this point, we can say that he has really enjoyed coming to Mathnasium for his sessions and says it has helped. It also has really boosted his confidence in taking the exam. He's taking the SAT today, so we'll let you know how it turns out!

Public school or large classroom math education can inevitably lead to gaps in learning. The schools are designed to follow concepts by the calendar date and not by student mastery of the concept. When my kids started attending Mathnasium, they repaired all of their holes in math learning over the years, and now they have a solid foundation of math that is powerful moving forward. The best thing my kids have is confidence in their competence in math reasoning. I attribute all of this to Mathnasium. My daughter said just this week, "I used to dread math; but honestly now I really like it, because I think the teachers at Mathnasium are nice. I feel more confident now in math. I teach the kids in my class math when they are confused by the teacher's instructions." I will add that I personally think students need to attend Mathnasium a minimum of 3 days a week, but that might just be the needs of my kids.
