Getting a Head Start on the AP Calc AB Exam

Jan 28, 2021 | Chula Vista

Is your Calculus student preparing for their AP Calculus AB Exam on May 4, 2021?

If not, now is the time to start!

The test targets students' understanding of major calculus topics such as limits and continuity, differentiation, integration and various applications of differentiation.

It is composed of two sections: multiple choice and free response. The multiple choice section is one hour and 45 minutes long -- and consists of 45 questions total. The free response section is one hour and 30 minutes long and consists of six multi-part questions.

It sounds daunting, doesn't it?

At Mathnasium of Chula Vista, we work one-on-one with our AP Calculus AB students to make sure they feel confident going into their AP Exam. This can mean something different for every student. Some might need substantial review in prior Integrated Math or Pre-Calculus topics -- such as trigonometry -- in order to begin to approach the more challenging subject matter. Others might feel ready to tackle the free response questions from past AP exams -- which will give them a good idea of the exam's expectations and the knowledge they need going in.

Regardless, our brilliant instructors can work with your student to build an AP Calculus AB game plan that works!
