The Perfect Summer Storm

May 11, 2022 | Chula Vista

Just because the school year is ending does not mean that students should stop learning. Mathnasium will not be closed over the summer and our students will be improving at the same accelerated rate just as they were  during the school year. As students will have more free time in the coming months, this is the perfect storm to catch up on topics that are cloudy or even become more prepared for the challenging topics to come in the upcoming year. We are not out of the woods yet with COVID-19 and thus these extra months of free time for students are especially crucial for getting and keeping students caught up.Keeping students engaged during the summer will mitigate the effects of the pandemic and accelerate them to some semblance of normalcy.

On top of keeping students engaged and caught up, our program also allows students to prepare for the future. An example of a way that our program does this is through our SAT sessions. Whilst in California, students are not required to submit an SAT or ACT for college admissions, the standardized tests still provide a unique metric for student aptitude when considering a student's fit into a college. The SAT and ACT were removed from the college admissions requirements due to COVID-19 but these standardized tests could quickly become reimplemented in California if deemed necessary. Even if the SAT and ACT are not required in California they are still used in college admissions out of state and therefore students need to take them to be the most competitive for college. The SAT prep sessions we have act as a way to give students options. If a student needs help in general math or on the SAT then Mathnasium offers the opportunity to improve in both of those areas.
