Ju'Quay Collyear, Center Director
Ju'Quay is a graduate of Denison University with a BA in Mathematics and Education. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Ju'Quay has tutored students and peers in math since her junior year in high school. She has always had a passion for helping others excel and has continued that passion throughout her years in college. While attending Denison she worked in Granville Elementary, Pataskala Elementary, and the Welsh Hills School with grades ranging from 1st grade to 8th grade. She has also worked for programs like PEAK Inc and Project MORE, centered around helping children catch up and keep up. She is honored to be the recipent of the 2016 Kussmaul Award presented by Denison University and the Granville Chamber of Commerce to the student who has made the greatest contribution to the local community during their years at Denison. JuQuay has helped to open our Mathnasium of Bexley center and is excited to call our first nonprofit center in Columbus her new home.
Rachel Collier , Lead-Instructor
Rachel Collier was born in Detroit, Michigan. During middle school, she relocatd to Wheelersburg, OH, where she graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 2016. Rachel attened Capital University for three years, where she participated in several music esembles and was a member of the Capital University Education Society (CUES). Rachel also works at Bed Bath & Beyond as well as with students at the Bexley Parks and Recreation; where she helps counsel and mentor elementary aged students at the Jeffrey Summer Camp. She has always loved helping other students and peers; and has been tutoring since highschool. In her free time, she enjoys reading, swimming, and traveling back to Michigan to visit her family and friends. Rachel has been at our Columbus East location since February of 2019 and is excited to take on the role of Lead-Instructor.
Susan Hodge, Instructor
"Dr. Sue" loves numbers! She earned a D.Sc. (Doctor of Science) in Applied Mathematics many years ago, from Washington University in St. Louis, and then spent her entire career doing mathematical modeling in human genetics. She has published over 175 original research papers, on topics including genetic linkage analysis, probability risk calculations, and genetic epidemiology. She also taught courses in mathematical genetics and likelihood modeling while on the faculty at UCLA in Los Angeles and at Columbia University in New York. In 2012 she moved to Columbus to continue her research as a Professor at Ohio State University and Children's Hospital. She retired in January of 2018, but she couldn't stand to stop "doing math," so she decided to come work at Mathnasium and share her love of numbers here.
Binyam Jara is a transfer student from Montgomery College majoring in Electrical engineering. He is currently taking classes at The Ohio State University to get his bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. Prior to coming to the United States, Binyam had taken a lot of math courses including multivariable calculus and differential calculus. Not only is Binyam good in math academically, but he is also passionate about tutoring students; especially middle school, high school, and college freshma.He has tutored middle school, high school and college freshman students during his spare time for almost 3 years. In 2011, Binyam was a member of AIESEC Ethiopia, which is a non profit organization to help students build leadership and math skills.During this time he got a chance to work with high school students from Ghana, Dubai and other countries. During his spare time, Binyam also likes to listen to music and hang out with friends. He looks forward to gaining new experience and developing his math skills by being a member of our exciting team.
Kathy Hayden , Instructor
Kathy Hayden has lived in Columbus for 15 years raising her family. After her three children became school aged, Kathy worked as a substitute teacher in Bexley Schools for several years. Kathy is an avid runner and hiker and loves to spend time outdoors. She is a passionate environmentalist and currently sits on the city of Bexley’s Environmental Sustainability Advisory Council. Having raised three children of her own and substituted, Kathy loves working with children and helping them reach their full potential.
Mark Kimbrell, Instructor
Originally from Dayton, Ohio; Mark Kimbrell is a junior at The Ohio State University majoring in Material Science Engineering. Before Ohio state he attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken NJ for 2 years. While in NJ Mark was on the wrestling team and loved to study the art of wrestling. When not helping tutor students Mark loves to travel the world, play spike ball with friends, and stay active. Mark has also enjoyed helping peers and younger students find their own joy in math just as he has found his.
Grant Dozer, Instructor
Grant Dozer is currently a senior at The Ohio State University from Carroll, Ohio currently majoring in Actuarial Science. Dozer hopes to land a job with NationWide upon graduation as an Actuary, analyzing statistics and using them to calculate insurance risks and premiums. His great passion and love for math pushed him to pursue this math heavy career . Grant wants to be able to share and encourage that same passion to the younger generations and give back to his community. In his free time he enjoys to play basketball and spend quality time with friends and family.
Mason Nowlin, Instructor
Mason Nowlin is a Columbus nattive who is a junior at Bexley High School. His two favorite subjects are history and math of course! He hasn’t decided on a college to attend yet, but dreams of pursuing a career in business and marketing. Outside of work Mason enjoys being outdoors, playing sports, and watching movies. Mason is excited to be an instructor at Mathnasium where he can help teach students one of his favorite subjects. He believes in the Mathnasium method of letting students try their work independently after receiving instructions and helping along the way when needed. This way the students can learn and not just be told how the answers.
Dimple Singla, Instructor
Dimple Singla was born and raised in India. She completed her Bachelor’s in electrical engineering in 2010 and Masters in Power System in 2013. In India, she was an Assistant Professor in Engineering College where she taught subjects surrounding Electrical Engineering. Math has always been Dimple’s favorite subject. She taught math to elementary and middle school students back at home in India during her free time. In 2016, She moved to The United States where her passion for math pushed her to work with Pickerington Public Library as a volunteer. At the library, Dimple assisted students with their mathematics homework assignments. She has also worked in other tutoring facilities in Pickerington, OH. Along with tutoring, Dimple also works part-time as an IT Recruiter at IntelliX Software Solutions, Columbus, OH. In her free time, she loves to cook and dance. She is always excited to visit her family back in India. She is very excited to be a part of the Mathnasium family and help students solve the mystery of math.
Julie Dunker, Instructor
Julie Dunker, originally from Indianapolis, IN, moved to Columbus 15 years ago. She taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra I and II in Indianapolis before starting a family. As her children entered school, Julie began working part-time in the education field again. She tutored students in math, taught pre-school, and became a substitute teacher in Bexley City Schools. Julie enjoys working with children and watching them become confident learners. She enjoys watching and playing sports, working out, spending time with family, and reading.
Marjorie Eichorn, Instructor
Marjorie Eichorn is a retired education professional who taught math at the high school level. She also taught basic math concepts and Pharmaceutical Math at a nursing school. Her all time favorite subject to teach is Geometry. Marjorie received a B.S. in Communications and Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University. She went on to earn her Masters in Education from the University of Dayton. As empty nesters her husband and Marjorie love to spoil their dog Elmo. What Marjorie enjoys most about tutoring, is watching a student’s reaction when they first understand a concept which had been very frustrating. The look on their face of accomplishment is why she has continued to tutor.
