Mathnasium of Crossroads wants to introduce you to our Owner, Rashna Balsara

Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: Education was, has been, and always will be important to me, especially since I come from an academic background. Math in particular is a subject that has an aura of being difficult and intimidating to kids. When our kids were younger, my husband and myself put in a lot of effort to make sure that their foundational math concepts were strong. As a result, math was fun and exciting for them. The Mathnasium approach of decomposing concepts in a way and using language easily understood by children is what drew me towards opening a Mathnasium. The Mathnasium of Crossroads mission is to meet the child where they are in math to take them to where they should be in math. I have seen in real-time how beautifully the Mathnasium method works - giving kids the confidence, removing the fear factor, and boosting their grades.

Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: Schererville, the city that we are located in is truly at the Crossroads of a thriving economy with influx of families that contribute to richness in diversity. Mathnasium of Crossroads serves families from several surrounding towns and school districts.

Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: Mathnasium of Crossroads has worked with different schools and school districts to help students overcome the loss of learning due to the pandemic. We also do community outreach events, and sponsor local communities/organizations for various projects in helping the youth in the field of education and career choices.

Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: I loved math all through my academic year, and as a scientist I had to be proficient in different aspects of math.

Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: If I had attended Mathnasium in grade school, I would have loved the fact that they make math easy to understand. Also, the ginormous number of worksheets from their database that covers every math concept helps give kids that extra practice they need.

Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in Crossroads? A: I love the outdoors and hit the walking trails whenever I can. Since Schererville is truly at the crossroads of different communities it has diverse and exciting number of restaurants serving culinary delights from all over the world which I love to visit. I also attend local events organized by different communities to learn about their culture and traditions. "
