Alexander M., Math Coach
For as long as I can remember, I've always loved math. Some of my earliest memories are from when my brother (in college at the time) sat me on his lap and taught me math using our magna-doodle. He didn't always make sense and I wasn't always cooperative, but these moments were the exceptions to the vast majority of times we had fun learning together. As I grew up, I found I wasn't just happy when I was learning math, but I was delighted when teaching it too. Working at the mathnasium is enjoyable and satisfying, which is what I strive to make the kids I tutor feel too.
Lin-Lin L., Math Coach
I've been working with younger kids since age 15, and they've always brought me so much joy. I've always found their inherent curiosity and energetic nature very inspiring, and that's why I look forward to coming to work every single day -- not just to help them improve their math, but also to learn their character and build connections with them.
When I was younger, I grew up playing CD games with math puzzles and doing math challenge problems with my two older sisters. It taught me to value and love math the way I do now, as an undergraduate at UC Davis studying Biomedical Engineering. I believe mastering basic mathematical concepts at a young age is tremendously powerful, and so I do everything I can to help students build and solidify their foundation in math. Being an instructor at Mathnasium allows me to interact with bright students of the Davis community while sharing my passion for math with them. It's a win-win!
