Philip has been tutoring since 2011 and has a true love for Math. He has a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Montclair State and has worked with students from Elementary through College. Philip has a passion and talent for taking complex math topics and breaking them down into smaller and more easily understood parts. Favorite number: 13... it's the second prime number.. second two digit prime number so it's extra prime Fun Fact: German American Dual citizenship. Hobbies are woodworking and room design.

Veronica

Instructor, Senior Fordham Univeristy, Morgan Stanley Intern
Veronica is a Senior Fordham University. In addition to working at Mathnasium, Veronica is a Finance Intern at TIGER 21 and an Analyst at VCM - Investment Club. Fun Fact: Veronica is a former ballerina.

JoAnn

Instructor, Certifications Elementary & Middle K-8, Special Ed K-12, BA, MA
JoAnn is an amazing educator holding certifications for Elementary and Middle Schools, Special Education K-12, BA from Trinity College and MA from Mathematical Education Teachers College from Columbia. Working both In-Center and @Home, JoAnn is known for ringing the cowbell when a student masters a skill. JoAnn loves math because it allows us to understand so much of the world around us. Math is essential for counting, cooking, music and sports but also for shooting rockets into space and predicting the weather! Favorite Number: 8 - because it has so many mathematical properties and connections: it's made up of two circles, it's symmetrical, it shows up in topology and turned on its side it represents infinity. Fun Fact: JoAnn has been to 10 National Parks so far!

Kyle

Kyle has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math from Rutgers University and is certified to teach math in grades k-12, Kyle enjoys Math because it explains our world. Favorite Number: 27 - because it's 3 cubed. Fun Fact: In his spare time, Kyle makes medieval armor.

Michael

Instructor - Algebra, Geometry
Michael is a Sophomore at the Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring in Computer Science. He loves Math because he likes seeing everything come together at the end once you finish a problem. Michael's Favorite number is 7 because there are seven dwarves. Fun Fact: Michael can play three musical instruments - Trumpet, Trombone and Ocarina! Talk about gifted!

Jason

Instructor, Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, NJIT
Jason is a Senior at the New Jersey Institute of Technology majoring in Civil Engineering. He loves math because everything builds on top of one another; you have to have that solid foundation to reach new heights. Favorite Number: 3 because he loves "tri-ing" his hardest and everything he does. Fun Fact: Jason loves playing TETRIS, both casually and competitively.

Kyan

Instructor, Academic Coach Rutgers University
Kyan is a Sophomore at Rutgers University majoring in Math. He is a teaching Fellow and Academic Coach at Rutgers. Having graduated from the Morris Hills Magnet Math and Science program, he is well versed in all Math topics. Kyan loves math because you can find it in nature. Fun Fact: Kyan has 6 pets. Three of them are cats. Favorite Number: 2 - because powers of 2 are found in real life applications.

Talia holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University. Her ability to connect with kids of all ages is downright uncanny.

Dylan

Instructor, MIT-bound Fall 2024
Dylan is a Senior at the Magnet Program for Math and Science at. Morris Knolls High School and has excelled at every level of Math. Dylan's favorite number is 2. Fun Fact about Dylan: "My favorite area of math is easily trigonometric proofs. It is very satisfying to connect the seemingly unrelated expressions together." Why Dylan Loves Math "I really love math because it logically explains why and how so many processes in the real world work, such as waves and trajectory." When he is not working at Mathnasium, Dylan enjoys chess, video games, casual soccer, hanging out with friends and cycling.

Phillip

Lead Instructor, BS Electrical Engineering, All Levels of Math
Philip holds an Electrical Engineering degree from NJIT. In addition to working at Mathnasium, Philip is also employed as a Data Scientist at Picatinny Arsenal. He likes standup comedy and trying out new restaurants. His favorite number is the Golden Ratio because the sentence "an eigenvalue of the Fibonacci Sequence is the golden ratio" makes sense! Favorite Math Joke: A student asked his Algebra teacher if he could use the restroom. For some reason, the teacher asked him to explain. His response: y=2p Fun Fact about Philip: He has perfect pitch. Why he loves Math "It started off as just something I was good at, but I gradually fell in love with its beauty and utility."

Paul

Lead Instructor, BS Physics, All Levels of Math
During his time at Rutgers University, Paul majored in Physics and minored in Math. He also holds a certificate for SQL in Data Science from UC Davis. Paul's favorite math joke is: What did 1 say to root 2 during their argument? Why can't you be rational???!!! His favorite number is e because it shows up everywhere. Fun Fact about Paul: He has three older brothers and they all look just about the same. Paul's favorite math subject is Calculus.

Samantha

Assistant Center Director, BA Mathematics & BS Physics
A graduate of Skidmore College with degrees in Math and Physics, Samantha brings deep rooted math and science knowledge to the center. Sam has worked at Raytheon Technologies as a Systems Engineer and has peer tutored and professionally tutored prior to joining Mathnasium. Sam's Favorite Number is Pi because it has the same name as her favorite dessert! She loves math because there's usually just one right answer. Favorite Math Joke: Why was the math book sad? Because it had TOO MANY PROBLEMS! Fun Fact about Sam: She can jump on a pogo stick with NO HANDS!

Nathan is a rising Senior at Livingston High School. He loves Math because "Math has a uniquely perpetual flow to it. I could do problems for hours on end and still enjoy doing it." His favorite number is 6 because he went to Disney World when he was 6 and it's just always stuck with him. Favorite Math Joke: Formula Sheet of an engineer: pi = e = root g = 3 Special certifications: USACO GOLD A fun fact about Nathan: His name was picked from a random flip into a baby names book!

Instructor, Academy of Math, Science and Engineering
Keshav is a Senior at the Academy of Math, Science and Engineering at Morris Hills HS. His favorite number is 17 since that's the date of his birthday. Favorite Math Joke: Why did the obtuse angle go to the beach? Because it was over 90 degrees. Favorite Area of Math: CALCULUS! Calculus has so many applications in the world around us, so being able to make connections between the world and math is really fun. Fun Fact: Keshav loves playing tennis. He also has a dog and a tortoise.

Yves graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science and Theatre. Favorite number :63. It's part of an elaborate ongoing joke with him and his friends. It has a lot of sentimental value. Favorite Math Joke: "Knowing my favorite math pun is trivial and left as an exercise for the reader." Fun Fact: Yves is a professionally trained theatre actor and singer. He's done conservatory work in NYC and has performed in some of his favorite shows.
