I am Jay! I am a Physics student in my third year of college at UTSA. I have always excelled in math and am studying to be an aerospace engineer for NASA or another space company! I have been on the president's list at my community college and I tutored there for 2 years. I love teaching people and helping students learn, whether they are younger than me or my peers!

About me: Born in Fort Cavazos, Killeen, and raised in San Antonio. I am a Junior in college at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with the dream of becoming a Physical therapist in the Army. I have had a passion for math since middle school, but I have always had a greater passion for helping and caring for others (humans and pets!).

  • Hobbies: My favorite things to do in my free time are play with my dog Jasmine, watch TV, and read books. I also love to travel and spend time with my family. Additionally, I love exploring all the amazing food there is in SA, especially Asian cuisine.

  • Favorite Math Joke: What is a math teacher's favorite snake? A Pi-thon.

I am Joey, and I was born and raised in Forney, Texas (just outside Dallas). I am a student at UTSA in mechanical engineering. I plan on going into the aerospace field with my degree.

  • Hobbies: I love baseball (Go reds!), working out, drumming, and hiking.

  • Favorite Math Joke: Why did 1/5 get a massage. Because he was two-tenths!

I was born and raised in San Antonio. I went to UTSA and got a mathematics degree. I'm a huge baseball fan (Go Braves) and I used to run cross country (my fastest mile is 4:42).

Hi, I’m Sreeja! I’m a recent graduate from UT Austin with a degree in neuroscience. I have always loved working with children and teaching various different subjects. My goal for the future is to work in the field of product design and development!

  • Hobbies: I love painting, dancing, reading, and watching The Office.

  • Favorite Math Joke: I had an argument with a 90-degree angle. It turns out it was right.

Jim

Jim grew up in Michigan where he attended Michigan State University earning two undergraduate degrees, Food Science and Chemical Engineering. Jim’s professional career included working for an oil company in a refinery and several large food companies where he specialized in the design, installation, and startup of new food manufacturing lines. His career required extensive national and international travel.
Jim recently retired from CH Guenther (a San Antonio food company) where he served as Director of Engineering.

  • Hobbies: Although I have not played for a long while, I was an avid racquetball player. I also am an Amateur Radio Operator (license call sign WO8I); I hope to get back on the air now that I’m retired.

  • Favorite Math Joke: A baker’s 15 year old daughter returns home one afternoon from school frustrated and confused. Her father (the baker) asks why she is so sullen. The daughter stated that her geometry instructor kept saying that Π r2 (pi r squared). Her father said that’s true, what’s the problem? The daughter replied “in my entire life, you have baked thousands of pies and not one of them was square."

I'm Stephen Brown. I am from Houston, Texas and a huge Astros fan. I am a mechanical engineering major at UTSA. My favorite math subject is algebra.

Hi, I'm Tanmaya, currently, I am a high school student at Basis Shavano. I love being able to work with children and teaching and hope to continue in the future because I believe that teachers can learn so much from their students!

I am a 10th-grade basis student who has a passion for mathematics. I seek to help other students improve their math skills.
