Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: My wife Kathryn and I had long careers in federal consulting (IT and management consulting) and were looking to make a change. We both love math and were drawn to the opportunity to own a Mathnasium Center.
Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: We love the Silver Spring location as it has such as diverse and vibrant population and community!
Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: Along with providing a place where students can grow their math skills and build confidence, we've enriched the local community by leading local Math Nights with PTAs, and participating in local events/festivals, such as the Takoma Park Folk Festival in years past. We're looking forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the community!
Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: Yes, I loved math and the challenges it provided. I especially liked geometry, as it made sense to me, and I could easily envision some of the problems and their solutions.
Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: I would have loved the one-on-one, personal interaction with a caring and skilled instructor. I would have benefitted greatly with an improvement in both my skills and confidence!
Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in Downtown Silver Spring? A: My wife Kathryn and I love attending local independent films and trying out new restaurants in the area. Beyond Silver Spring, we love the water and you will frequently find us swimming, boating, or just enjoying time on the waterside."
