Mathnasium of Dunkirk wants to introduce you to our Owner, Jimmy Moltz

Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: I started out as an instructor and really grew to love my job. Over time, I developed a genuine belief in the Mathnasium method and came to the conclusion that if it were up to me, Mathnasium would be available to all students. The Center Director was the one who got the students to enroll in the first place, so I decided to become a CD in order to show everyone the great time that Mathnasium can be!

Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: I grew up in this area, so that makes me feel like I have a natural connection with the students and parents. This location was actually not even considered by Mathnasium headquarters to be a sufficient territory, but our owners convinced HQ to make Dunkirk a territory! We have great schools and great families in the area that make being here a blast!

Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: I think it goes without saying the impact that our center has made in terms of the overall math education in this area, but as the years have gone by, we have become a staple in the community. Since I still live nearby, whenever I’m out and about I’ll run into families that attend or have previously attended and we always have a great time discussing the difference that we made for them.

Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: Math was always my best subject in school. I always enjoyed numbers in general and had great teachers that really made math fun! I think that was a major reason I became an instructor in the first place. I wanted to be just as good, if not an even better math instructor than those who taught me!

Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: I wish I had attended Mathnasium when I was in school! I would’ve loved it! I know I would’ve had a great time doing problems with the instructors here too. I already liked math, but I didn’t have a passion for math yet. In just working here, I ended up becoming so passionate about math that I went on to change my major and get a degree in it!

Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in Dunkirk? A: I regularly play pickup basketball at Dunkirk park when I’m not at the center. Another thing I do for fun is golf at Mellomar. In terms of restaurants, I eat Chipotle for lunch every day. I also love going to the Mexico Restaurant in both North Beach and Huntingtown.
