Rick (Mr. Rick)

Rick (Mr. Rick)

Owner / Center Director
In 2019 Rick opened Mathnasium of East Wichita. Its because of his success as owner of Mathnasium of West Wichita that he extended Mathnasium to East Wichita. Prior to Mathnasium, Rick was a successful entrepreneur in Wichita. After decades working in the business world, Rick has seen firsthand how math skills can enrich lives. Rick's lifelong passion for helping others has included volunteering as an AWANA leader and children's Sunday School teacher at his church in Wichita. Rick attended both Wichita State University and the University of Kansas. Rick and his wife Susan have two adult daughters and two grandsons. He is an instrument-rated pilot and enjoys singing in his church choir. Rick is a personally-involved owner; on-site at Mathnasium of East Wichita. He is relentlessly focused on helping your student succeed at math.

Emma (Miss Emma)

Lead Instructor
Emma is currently a homeschool Senior taking classes at Wichita State University and Butler County Community College. She plans to major in computer science or cybersecurity. FAVORITE NUMBER: "8", because dancers count things in 8s. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: Why do plants hate math? Because it gives them square roots! FUN FACT: I love to crochet and code! I danced for 12 years and my favorite style was tap. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: It focuses on making sure that kids actually understand the math they are doing, instead of just memorizing facts. I like the emphasis on multiple methods of instruction because kids don’t all learn things the same way.

Alexa (Miss Alexa)

Math Instructor
Alexa is a fifth year student at Wichita State University. She is currently pursuing a BS in biology. FAVORITE NUMBER: "42", because it’s the answer to life, the universe, and everything. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: Why are obtuse angles so upset? Because they’re never right. FUN FACT: I’m a huge fan of fantasy and sci-fi. Because of this, writing and art are two of my favorite hobbies. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: I love Mathnasium because: Mathnasium meets kids at their level. Instead of lectures and memorization, each kid has an individual learning plan that helps them actually understand and enjoy the math they’re doing.

Brody (Mr. Brody)

Math Instructor
Brody recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and a minor in German. He plans on obtaining a master’s degree in the near future. FAVORITE NUMBER: “5”, because it was the number he wore for sports throughout school. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: A farmer counted 397 cows in his field, but when he rounded them up, he had 400. FUN FACT: I am a percussionist and like to play all kinds of drums and unique instruments. Additionally, I like to go bowling from time to time. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: Mathnasium allows children to learn at their own pace and does this by focusing directly on the topics they need the most help with. I also like how Mathnasium uses a wide variety of fun techniques to help children learn.

Madaline (Miss Maddie)

Math Instructor
Maddie is currently a Junior at Wichita State University. She plans to earn a degree in forensic chemistry and later transition to teaching. FAVORITE NUMBER: “24” because it was her Jersey number and her birthday. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: Why can’t a nose be 12 inches long? Because then it would be a foot! FUN FACT: Maddie loves to paint, dance and travel. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: The material allows students to develop a passion for learning. It’s structured in a way so that kids recognize how much they’re improving/ And their confidence builds with their math skills.

Addison (Miss Addi)

Math Instructor
Addison is currently a senior at Kapaun Mt Carmel Catholic High School. She is involved in National Honors Society and Theater. She is planning to go to Wichita State University for college. FAVORITE NUMBER: 8, because it has always been my lucky number. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: What is a math teachers favorite snake? A pi-thon! FUN FACT: I love to paint and go to Colorado. The mountains are amazing to paint. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: The learning plans teach the math step by step, making sure the students understand the whole way through. The techniques that are taught this way help them understand the concepts easier. Then they can build upon those skills or fall back on them when they need to.

Sami (Mr. Sami )

Math Instructor
Sami recently graduated from Andover High School. He is planning to pursue a degree in physics and mathematics. FAVORITE NUMBER: "4" since a group of four is the perfect size. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: What did the triangle say to the circle? "You're pointless." FUN FACT: I absolutely love the beach and go to Florida every summer. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: The Mathnasium curriculum is extremely intuitive. I've finished high school math, but I'm still learning new things at Mathnasium thanks to the way the curriculum connects abstract math concepts to concrete ideas that just make sense.

Elias (Mr. Eli)

Math Instructor
Elias is a High School Senior at Maize Virtual Prep taking college courses at Wichita State University. He plans to major in Biomedical Engineering and Astronomy. FAVORITE NUMBER: "127", because it is a centered hexagonal number and shows up in nature. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: What did the triangle say to the circle? You have no point! FUN FACT: I do Tae Kwon Do and I thoroughly enjoy woodworking. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: The instructional methods are simple and allow for deriving facts instead of just memorizing them.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
