Jeff Rucker, Owner & Center Director

Jeff LOVES forecasting success for your child's future!  Before opening the first area Mathnasium (in 2011), Jeff was the Chief Meteorologist at NBC Augusta for 12 years. His decision to bring Mathnasium to the CSRA is a logical follow-on to all his previous work as a Navy and broadcast meteorologist. Jeff often jokes that meteorology is 70% math, 20% science and 10% art. “I think I took more math classes in college and grad school than I did weather classes.” Since beginning his broadcast meteorology career back in 1996, Jeff has made school visits and weather education outreach a top priority. From pre-K to high school, Jeff has spoken to hundreds of classrooms all over the CSRA. Anyone who has ever seen one of Jeff’s weather talks (or weathercasts) knows that Jeff loves to teach. Besides making regular visits to area classrooms, Jeff teaches elementary kids at his church, Stevens Creek, and college students at Augusta State.  Mathnasium affords Jeff the wonderful opportunity to expand his gift of teaching. “Now I can be in my own classroom all day!”   Jeff also believes that math and science expos and fairs are critical to helping all kids understand how important and fun math can be. Jeff has played critical roles in the Middle School State Science Olympiad, SRS Technology Days, and Science Education and Enrichment Day at USC Aiken. “If kids can learn how to think, they will gain confidence to solve problems. Mathnasium is all about building a rock-solid mathematical foundation – we call it number-sense – that leads to confidence and accomplishment in all areas of life, not just in math!” Jeff holds a B.S. in Physics from the U.S. Naval Academy and an M.S. in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. Jeff’s love for math started early! He even earned his high school varsity letter on the math team!

Luke Lawrence, Assistant Director

Nice to meet you, I'm Luke.  I am a graduate of Augusta University.  Math came to life for me my freshman year of college and since then has become one of my passions.  I believe that grasping the importance & knowlege of math can help each student achieve succeed in the classroom, no matter how difficult they think it is.  I love helping the students at Mathnasium reach this point.  I look forward to seeing you soon!

Lindsey Siegel, Training Director

I taught math at Jefferson County High School for 5 years. Friends, family and even strangers cannot believe that anybody would actually want to teach math, especially to high-schoolers, but I think that is because they remember not doing well in math themselves. Even the most difficult problem can be broken down to a simple problem if you look at the core meaning; and that works for anything, not just for math. I believe anybody at any age can learn the skills of thinking that come with knowing how to "do math", but each person does that at their own pace. I am thrilled I get to help students make math make sense at MATHNASIUM! learning is one of my favorite things to do (not everyone realizes that it's actually a FUN thing!). I can't wait to meet you at Mathnasium!

Christine Rucker, Owner & Marketing Director

Christine, Jeff's wife, is his biggest cheerleader and is so excited to be involved with MATHNASIUM here in the CSRA!  She is the behind-the-scenes staple that keeps it all together.

Christine holds a B.S. in Communications from Old Dominion University. She has worked as a news producer at NBC and CBS in Norfolk VA and at NBC here in Augusta. Her experience line producing local news helps her juggle all the ins and outs of the Centers.

As a mother to two high schoolers, Christine knows how to make kids feel comfortable, encouraged and welcomed! She's excited about seeing you at the center very soon.

Lexi Dowdy, Instructor

Hi, my name is Lexi and I have lived in GA my entire life.  I moved to Evans in 2016 and love living here.  I attend Greenbrier High School and Augusta University as a dual enrollment student.  Math has always been my favorite subject.  I'm so thankful to have had such great math teachers.  I enjoy solving math problems because they are like games & puzzles to me.  Every problem has an answer, the only trick is you have to find how to get there.  I'm excited to help your son or daughter learn to love math!

Mia Jones, Instructor

Nice to meet you, I'm Mia!  I graduated from Lakeside High School and now attend Augusta University.  I have always loved learning Math.  And now I love teaching Math to our students here at Mathnasium.  See you soon!

Marcus Corulli,

I am Marcus.  I am in the IB program at Lakeside High School.  Besides excelling at Math, I also love gymnastics.  I have always had a knack for Math and Science.  I hope to share my knowledge with all the students at Mathnasium.  I look forward to making a difference in your child's understanding of Math.

Aditi Umapathy, Instructor

Hello, I am Aditi!  I attend Lakeside High School.  I have loved math since elementary school.  Throughout the years, it has helped me with so many of my goals!  Loving the subject has allowed me to build a solar-powered wheelchair for a grant.  I am so excited to be able to share my passion with the students at Mathnasium.  See you soon!

Justice Howley, Instructor

Hi, I'm Justice.  I attend Augusta University and plan to major in Computer Science.  Since I was young, Math has always been a subject I enjoyed.  Even if the questions were tough, I always found a way to find the solutions.  I want to help others see that math is not impossible to grasp.  I look forward to seeing you soon.

Emily Fan, Instructor

Nice to meet you - my name is Emily!  I attend Lakeside High School.  When I was in elementary school I didn't enjoy math!  But, over time I began to put forth more effort in the subject and attempted to do more than just the minimum in class.  At Mathnasium, I hope to teach your child the endless possibilities of the subject.  And, I hope to teach them how to excel in it.  I look forward to meeting you soon!

Caleb Duke, Instructor

Nice to meet you, I'm Caleb!  I'm a Homeschooled High School Student currently dual enrolling at Augusta University.  Math has always been my favorite, even when I've had to work hard at it.  I'm looking forward to helping the students at Mathnasium become stronger math students.  Whether it's addition or pre-calculus, I think everyone has the ability to "get" math!  See you soon!

Esha Singh, Instructor

Nice to meet you, I'm Esha!  I attend Lakeside High School.  Math hasn't always been my best subject - but, that motivated me to try harder.  When trying to improve in the subject, I consistently set goals for myself!  I worked diligently on understanding the underlying concepts - instead of trying to just memorize everything for the tests!  My hard work paid off - I love math now and excel at it.  I look forward to helping your son or daughter reach their full math potential!

Rebecca Brautigam, Instructor

Hello, I'm Rebecca!  I am a student at Evans High School and I have always loved math!  When I was younger, I even nicknamed my favorite food "homework" because I loved doing math homework so much!  :)   I have always looked at math as a fun puzzle to solve.  This puzzle has helped me to connect so many things in my life!  I hope to share the joys of math with the students at Mathnasium.  See you soon!
