Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Angie Yuan

Owner/Managing Director
Angie started her career in Silicon Valley for Internet/Software companies and consulted for multiple startups in marketing, operations and funding strategies. Angie has been an active member in multiple start-up communities and a dedicated volunteer for various professional organizations. Angie holds an MBA degree in Management Information Systems from State University of New York at Albany with full scholarship. In early 2013, Angie discovered Mathnasium as a brilliant way to realize her passion for education and love for mathematics while helping kids succeed at school. She and the Mathnasium team of Foster City are committed to helping students grow their interest, skills, and confidence in Math and are very proud to bring the Mathnasium Method to San Mateo County.

Nicholas Seyfried

Lead Instructor
Nicholas Seyfried has always enjoyed math and working with children, which is what led them to applying for an instructor role at Mathnasium in June of 2019. After just over two years with the company, Nicholas began their role as a lead instructor in November of 2021 and currently holds this position. Due to their efficiency, work ethic, and compassion, Nicholas has balanced their job with being president of a volunteer organization at their high school and graduated as one of San Mateo High School's class of 2022 valedictorians. Nicholas will attend UCLA beginning in September 2022, where they will study dance and public affairs. They hope to continue working with Mathnasium remotely as well as continue their work with children. Nicholas and the rest of the Mathnasium team look forward to helping other children discover their love for math and develop their own strong work ethics.

Brooks Franklin

Administrative Assistant
Brooks grew up in La Quinta, California, and has previously worked in retail stores and in computer / electronic repair. He joined the Foster City Mathnasium team in early 2018. Starting to work as an instructor, he could very quickly see the impact that Mathnasium had on its students. Towards the end of 2019, he was promoted to an administrative role and with that new perspective, he continued to see the benefits of the Mathnasium program. In addition to this, his new role had allowed multiple opportunities for him to learn new skills and gain experience working with new projects. His favorite parts of the job are organizing data collected from student sessions and creating and optimizing processes to make everyone’s job easier and/or more efficient.

Bryan

Administrative Assistant
Bryan studied Economics at the University of Southern California, but his secret is that his real passion lies in education and analyzing literature. He loves his Mathnasium coworkers and enjoys supporting the moderators in both classrooms. His favorite part of the job is finding the gap in a student’s knowledge and using his skills on the job to fill in that gap. “There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a passing score on a student’s assessment”, he thinks, in a recent moment of introspection. He believes that it is not about what concepts a student gets wrong on a test, it’s about why and how they got it wrong.

Mei

Instructor
From a young age, Mei learned advanced math from her parents, leading her to develop a passion for the subject. She enjoys teaching these same concepts to students at Mathnasium and witnessing them learn to love math the way she did.

Nancy

Instructor
Nancy is a senior in high school. She has been working at Mathnasium for one year since 2021. At Mathnasium, Nancy was excited to be able to help kids develop their skills in math. Outside of Mathnasium, Nancy enjoys reading and listening to music!

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
