Mathnasium of Greenville Five Forks wants to introduce you to our Owner, Dawn Sheriff

Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: I love teaching and helping people. I saw Mathnasium as a way to do both! The Mathnasium method is far superior than what I was able to accomplish in a traditional classroom.

Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: The Greenville area is a wonderful place to raise a family. It's where we live and play. The weather is wonderful year-round with mild winters (we have an occasional snow) and summers are hot and rainy but with local swim teams, there's always a pool available to play in. There are so many opportunities here for kids to thrive academically, socially and in athletics.

Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: We sponsor several neighborhood swim teams, donate to area schools for fundraisers, teacher luncheons, participate in local STEAM events and overall send the message that math doesn't have to be hard. In fact, it can be fun!

Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: Math was one of my favorite subjects even though it didn't always come easily to me. I worked at it because I liked getting the question right. I took particular delight in checking my own work because it gave me more confidence that each question was correct.

Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: I would have loved the reward system and the way I would have been able to get ahead. I am very competitive and a hard worker. Mathnasium would have really helped me through a few of those hard years.

Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in Greenville Five Forks? A: There's so many fun things to do in this area! We love chasing waterfalls and hike on the pretty weekends. Conestee Park & Nature Preserve is one of our favorite weekend escapes. (I am an actual tree-hugger and I love nature!) River Falls park is beautiful and since I recently changed to a whole-foods, plant-based diet, I am checking out all the vegan dishes at our favorites in town. Kairos and Core Life are two of my favorites places to eat, but my whole family loves Sidewall Pizza. Their food is awesome and I'm thankful that their salads and homemade ice cream are amazing--including the non-dairy flavors! "
