Today you’ll get a glimpse into the happenings of your local center as we follow students through their first experience at Mathnasium of Greenville Five Forks.

Q: What is the first thing a brand new student does at your center?

A: When new students first arrive in our center, we give them the Grand Tour! This includes browsing our rewards cabinet and explaining how punches are earned. We stop by the calendar to see all the fun things we do at Mathnasium. Then we show them how current students interact with their instructors, explain the spin wheel and how students earn stars. If a new student is going to do an assessment, we want them comfortable, ready to show us what they know, and ready to learn something new!

Q: What is the comprehensive assessment? How long does it take to finish?

A: Our comprehensive assessment is a tool we use to determine a student's strengths and weaknesses. We need to know where they are so we can move forward from there. Some students are right on track, but want to advance their skills. Others may be struggling and need some foundational skills solidified and strengthened. Our comprehensive assessment will target any gaps so we can address root causes of the student's struggle. We then use the results to build a customized learning plan, unique to the student. The assessment takes about an hour, but we usually plan on 1.5 hours so we have time to discuss the results with parents.

Q: How often should I bring my student to Mathnasium of Greenville Five Forks?

A: Building math skills takes practice, just like playing the piano or dribbling a ball. We like our students to have about 10 sessions each month.

Q: Who are the people teaching my child?

A: Our instructors are amazing! We have a few high school students who are at the top of their class; we have some retired teachers and engineers. All of our instructors must pass a rigorous math exam and are trained in teaching the Mathnasium Method.

Q: When can I bring my child into Mathnasium of Greenville Five Forks?

A: We are available for assessments Monday through Thursday each week from 2:00-7:00. Assessments can be scheduled from our website or by calling our center.

Q: How do you motivate your students at Mathnasium of Greenville Five Forks?

A: At Mathnasium, we love our students! They love seeing our smiles when they come in and we love seeing their smiles as they go out! Students have opportunities to earn stars on their punch cards to spend in our rewards cabinet. Our Brag Board is full of pictures of our students and instructors showing off a job well done, playing math games, and working hard. We celebrate student successes here at our center and at school. Math is Fun!
