Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Arthur

Instructor
Arthur is currently an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia. He is in a special undergraduate program at the Vancouver School of Economics known as the Bachelor of International Economics. There, he uses math to analyze macroeconomic phenomena. Arthur has worked with Mathnnasium of Happy Valley since the center opened in 2019. In short, Arthur loves math! He also loves teaching others math. In his time at Mathnasium, he has taught dozens of students and helped to pioneer the center's @Home program. When Arthur grows up, he hopes to pursue a career in finance.

Filip

Instructor
Filip is a junior at Ardrienne C. Nelson High School who is really passionate about math and science. As an elementary schooler, he became excited about math because his Dad explained it to him in a way that was logical and applicable. Since then, he's been explaining math to others in the same way and using his math skills in everyday life. Filip is a leader for his church's middle school ministry and he loves to interact with kids whenever he has the opportunity. In his free time, he loves playing the cello and the guitar, reading, playing board games and hiking. One day, he hopes to become an aerospace engineer.

Aiden

Instructor
Aiden is a junior at Clackamas High School. He has enjoyed math since elementary school and thinks it is an important skill to have to understand everyday life. He enjoys working with people who want to learn and understand more. In his free time, Aiden enjoys riding his bike and going outside. In the future, he hopes to become an actuary.

Kimberley

Instructor
Kimberley has been tutoring and teaching math at the college level since 1989. She has a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Washington State University and a Master's of Science in Mathematics from Western Washington University. Her passion for teaching and making math fun and understandable is evident when she slips into a goofy character such as wearing a purple wig or juggling erasers to get the students to laugh and try again. Kimberley is crazy about cats and playing dodgeball and loves the Pacific Northwest's rain and greenery. She also enjoys learning and would be a perpetual student if it paid better.

Caleb

Instructor
I am currently a sophomore at Damascus Christian School, and Jesus is my personal Savior. I am a basketball enthusiast who both plays and studies the game. My greatest goal is to play the game of basketball in college, then professionally.

Jaiden

Instructor
My name is Jaiden, I am a junior in high school. Some of my interests include math, Taekwondo, and Golf. I enjoy teaching others, and building connections with who I meet. In my free time I teach students self defense, and tutor students after school for math. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in Software Engineering.

Phi

Instructor
Phi is a junior at Adrienne C. Nelson high school. He was a Mathnasium student when he was in elementary school and that was where his passion for math began. He enjoys working with students and take great pride in teaching people new things. His favorite subject in school is math and on his spare time he enjoys reading books and playing tennis.

Tiffany

Instructor
Tiffany is a junior at Adrienne C. Nelson High School. Her favorite subjects in school are math and science. She loves helping others improve their math skills by helping them understand math. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in STEM.

Sue

Instructor
Sue is a senior at Portland State University who is majoring in computer science and minoring in mathematics. Sue loves problem solving and enjoys sharing her math skills with others. In her spare time, Sue likes hiking with her dog and Chinese paintings.

Sam

Instructor
Sam is a recent graduate of Clackamas High School who is in the midst of a gap year before going to Lewis & Clark College in the fall of 2023. He gets his love of math from his parents, who instilled a curiosity and reverence for math in him from an early age. In his free time, he plays the electric guitar and writes original songs. He hopes to become a professional musician in the future.

Jeff

Instructor
After 41 years of teaching, Jeff retired in 2020. He taught elementary and middle school grades for 31 years and then taught math in college for 10 years at Concordia University. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Concordia University and a Master of Science Degree in Education from Indiana University. Jeff has taught in Indiana, Washington, and Oregon. He enjoys teaching math, especially to students who struggle with math and need their confidence boosted. He has worked at Mathnasium of Happy Valley since fall of 2020. Jeff and his wife, Marilyn, enjoy gardening, hiiking, and other outdoor activities. Jeff also officiates high school basketball in the Portland area.
