Lesa Bishop, Owner/Center Director

My name is Lesa Bishop and I am the Owner/Center Director here at Mathnasium of Highlands Ranch.  I wanted to let you know a little bit about myself.  I am a licensed teacher with 8+ years’ experience teaching in Douglas County School District and Denver Public Schools.  I have two daughters, a senior and a junior, who attend Ponderosa High School.  As a family, we love to camp, hike, and watch the Broncos.  I also enjoy horseback riding, reading mysteries, and relaxing with my dogs.

One of the reasons my husband and I were drawn to Mathnasium is that we witnessed the positive results as parents of a daughter who struggled with math. During her middle school years we enrolled her at Mathnasium and we saw her grow her confidence in math and the gaps in her math education filled.  This experience was the driving force behind our desire to own our own center so we could help children catch up, keep up, and get ahead.  I fell in love with Mathnasium, because I believe the Mathnasium Method can help students “get” math.

Each day, I make it my goal to ensure that students have an effective, engaging, and encouraging learning experience that cultivates an intuitive understanding of math.  At Mathnasium, we offer the tools to help young learners improve critical math skills and understanding, regardless of their current ability level.  We look forward to working with you and helping you build a successful future for your child.

Danielle Peskin, Lead Instructor

Hi, my name is Danielle Peskin and I am excited to be the Lead Instructor at Mathnasium of Highlands Ranch.    I have a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of Utah. My real passion is teaching math and helping students love math!  Prior to coming to Mathnasium of Highlands Ranch, I was a mentor instructor at the Layton, UT Mathnasium.   I love helping students build confidence in math and helping them fill their gaps or providing enrichment to students who need the extra challenge!

When I am not doing “math” I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and our dog Sylas.  I also am a die-hard Eagles fan!

 Eric Hankinson, Instructor

Hello, my name is Eric Hankinson, and I am currently a junior in Chemical & Biological Engineering at Colorado School of Mines. I have been exposed to a wide variety of advanced mathematics classes, both in high school and in my current schoolwork. Because of this, I have a deep understanding of the personal experience of the student in the education system, the interplay between teacher and student, and the variety of different emotions that come with learning new math or science concepts for the first time.

I thoroughly enjoy math, and I am required to apply it fluently in all of my classes on a daily basis. Working with students, and helping them to reinforce skills that they can use positively throughout their lives, has been a very meaningful experience.
