First up: Vivienne Malone-Myers. She was born February 10, 1932, in Texas. Her parents were teachers and pushed her to excel in her own studies. At the University of Texas, she was the only female and the only Black in most of her classes, where she was ignored. Despite these obstacles, Vivienne persevered in her studies and participated as an advocate of civil rights, earning her PhD in Mathematics in 1966.
Vivienne became the first Black professor at Baylor University, despite having been rejected as a student due to her race. She had a flair for teaching, and developed new methods of learning through self-paced audio tutorials.
