Ellen

Lead Instructor
Ellen graduated from Northen Illinois University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in Math. She later recieved her Master's degree in Math Education from National Lewis University. Ellen began her career teaching at the elementary level. Then, her passion for math inspired her to specialize, so Ellen moved on to teach Middle School math. Over the years she taught at many levels, from remedial classes to Honors Algebra 1. Ellen taught on the North Shore for over a decade, and then in a Northwest suburb until she retired. She loves working with students on a more individualized basis, so she was excited when she discovered Mathnasium. "Not only does an understanding of math result in academic accomplishments, but it also enables students to more clearly interperet their world. The mathnasium program is an outstanding resource, and I look forward to helping students understand and enjoy math."

Dave

Instructor
David graduated with honors from University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. David attended graduate school at University of California, where he received a Master of Science degree in Quantum Chaos Theory. He is a retired teacher with over twenty-three years experience teaching all levels of math. When David is not solving mathematical equations there is a good probability you will find him playing one of his classical guitars.

Sebrina

Instructor
Sebrina is going to be a Junior at Hinsdale Central High School. She has always enjoyed learning math because it is so formulaic , yet every path to the answer is so different. Working at Mathnasium has allowed her to help other students find a new joy in the subject because that is what the instructors did for her when she was a new student!

Omar

Center Owner
Omar graduated from the Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. After working as a civil engineer for three years following graduation, Omar fed his hunger for entrepreneurship by starting his own construction business, which is still in operation today. Omar was drawn to Mathnasium because it offered something different from other after-school instructional programs, particularly its focus on practical elements of math such as problem solving and mental math. Omar serves on the boards of two private schools in the Western Suburbs of Chicago where he lives with his wife and their three children.

Riley

Assistant Center Director
Riley Roca grew up in Clarendon Hills and always enjoyed learning math and science in school. He recently finished his degree in physics and spent time tutoring math and physics in college. He enjoys teaching at Mathnasium because he is passionate about math and explaining it to others. When he's not at Mathnasium he enjoys spending time outdoors or being with his family.

John

Instructor
John is currently a Junior at Benet Academy in Lisle, where he is taking Multivariable Calculus. Before instructing, he was a Mathnasium student himself for 4 years at Mathnasium of Hinsdale. Prior to Mathnasium, John also tutored students on behalf of Benet Academy’s Academic Center. As one of the top performers on his school’s State-bound math team, John has always appreciated math and the tangible effects that it has on the lives of the students that he teaches. In his view, Mathnasium serves to inspire and grow students’ love of math. John wants students to share in his joy and yearning for math, and being an instructor at Mathnasium most resolutely accomplishes this goal.

Yash

Instructor
Yash Gupta is currently a junior at Hinsdale Central High School taking Multivariable Calculus. Yash has always enjoyed math because he saw math problems as puzzle and fun challenges for him to solve. Because of this, he was driven to work at mathnasium to help others find that same enthusiasm for math.

Elizabeth

Instructor
Elizabeth is currently in AP Calc BC and loves math because it is the universal language that connects us all and always has a process and answer to a problem. She likes working at Mathnasium because it provides her with the opportunity to teach kids and watch them grow with guidance and skills that’ll support them throughout their life.

Azam

Instructor
Azam Khan graduated from Northwestern University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and minor in sustainability. Having previously tutored at Mathnasium in high school, Azam is deeply passionate about fostering a love for math in students and finds joy in witnessing that 'lightbulb' moment in students. Currently working as an ESG Advisory Consultant, Azam continues to channel this passion for making an impact in the world. In his free time Azam enjoys playing a variety of sports, watching live entertainment, and travelling.

Ava

Hi! My name is Ava. I am currently a junior taking AP Calculus AB at Hinsdale Central High School. I was a student at Mathnasium for many years and it had a huge impact on my school performance and my appreciation for the subject. As a result, I decided to become a mathnasium instructor so I could support other kids in their journey as a math student! I really enjoy working here and getting to work with the students and see their passion for math grow!

Dominic

My name is Dominic Kent and I am a junior at Lyons Township. I chose to work at Mathnasium Becuase I want to give children the opportunity that I was so lucky to have when I was younger. I am now taking multiple AP math courses aspiring to become a mechanical engineer at the University of Illinois.

Danny Z.

Instructor
Danny is a former high school math teacher of 5 years. Algebra and Geometry are my passions to teach. I love working at Mathnasium becuase the students have such a positive energy to succeed and learn. Getting to watch the students grow and become confident in their skills make working here all the better. My hobbies include reading books, playing JRPGs, and biking when it's nice out!
