Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Valerie Cothran

Lead Instructor; 5 Year Mathnasium Veteran
Valerie is a former teacher who graduated from UTPB, in Odessa, TX. Her love for teaching led to her joining our team, where she believes that great things are happening for kids in math and life. Helping students excel and promoting a love of learning is her passion. Valerie loves board and card games of all kinds and loves the smell of real books. She loves working at Mathnasuim because she enjoys watching kids grow in an individualized environment that is different than a classroom setting.

Daniel Aguilera

Lead Instructor; 7 Year Mathnasium Veteran
Daniel is currently studying Mathematics at the University of Houston. After graduation, he plans on becoming a high school Calculus teacher. When he is not studying or teaching kids math, Daniel enjoys playing the trumpet, piano and recorder. He even does Calculus when he is bored! His favorite math joke is: "If you ever get cold, go stand in the corner. It is always 90 degrees!"

Eddie Jefferson

Instructor; 1 Year Mathnasium Veteran
Eddie has recently finished his Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin. He is looking to pursue his Masters degree in Material Science. His interest in helping young minds develop their mathematical fluency is what led him to work at Mathnasium! He loves being able to take his analytical approach to math to help students be inspired and not intimidated by math. In his free time, Eddie loves to cook, paint and play video games!

Briana Roenz

Lead Instructor; 4 Year Mathnasium Veteran
Briana is currently attending Baylor University, where she is double majoring in Biology and Psychology on the pre-medical track. After medical school, she plans to become a pediatrician! Taylor Stanley

Instructor; 1 Year Mathnasium Veteran
Taylor is a current student at Humble Christian School while taking dual-credit classes at LoneStar College. Her college ambitions include majoring in Pre-Med at either University of Texas or Penn State! She loves working at Mathnasium because she loves to see when concepts "click" and see them enjoy math that may have once been challenging for them. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family!

Itzel De Leon

Instructor
Itzel is currently attending Incarnate Word Academy. She hopes to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas! She loves working at Mathnasium because she struggled in math in Middle school until a teacher helped her break down the concepts and now she wants to show students that "just because you struggle with math, doesn't mean that it will forever be hard, you just need the right teacher". Her recent love of math is why she decided to be a Mechanical Engineer! In her free time, she likes to draw, paint, and do digital art!

Ethan Juranek

Instructor; 1 Year Mathnasium Veteran
Ethan is currently a student at Texas A&M University, majoring in Industrial Engineering. Ethan’s interest in helping math actually make sense to others is what made him want to work at Mathnasium. He likes to try to help students understand why they do the things that they do in math instead of just relying on methods like memorization. Some things that he enjoys doing in his free time are playing golf, weightlifting, watching sports, and playing video games.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
