Amanda Burdi, Owner and Interim Center Director

Amanda is the Owner of Mathnasium of Huntersville and Mathnasium of Mooresville. Prior to opening her Mathnasium Learning Centers, Amanda was a graduate student at Virginia Tech where she received an MS in Environmental Engineering. She also has a BS in Environmental Engineering from NC State. Amanda has always loved math and wants to share her enthusiasm with kids of all ages. As a tutor and instructor for more than a decade, Amanda is passionate about explaining concepts by teaching people in a way that makes sense to them. She has taught and tutored children of all ages, and she is committed to bringing the Mathnasium Method to the children in the Huntersville community.

Audra Dingle, Assistant Center Director

Audra Dingle is a graduate of Pfeiffer University with a BS degree in Mathematical Sciences. She has tutored math since graduating to elementary to college students. She starting tutoring at her church for 2 years then went on to tutor privately. She has always enjoyed math and has continued to learn new concepts to help students. Her goal is to help students understand math and gain confidence in the subject and to show that math is fun

Al Brack, Instructor

Al is a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, pursuing a BS in Psychology and a BA in Sociology on their path to becoming a school counselor. They have a passion for education and working with children and adolescents. In addition to working at Mathnasium, Al also works at the Carolina Renaissance Festival directing and supervising an adolescent performing troupe. They have always believed that math can be genuinely fun within the correct parameters, and they want to inspire that same love of math in others by trying to make it fun for them too.

Toby Wong, Instructor

Toby Wong is a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte studying Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. He has always had a love for teaching and with math as a strong suit, it fits perfectly in with tutoring math. He believes everybody is capable of doing math well but fear can stop the pursuit of higher math learning. A little push along the way is what can help drive someone’s interest in math forward and inspire a love of the subject.

Ashley Maziarz

Ashley Maziarz is a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. She is a former student of Mathnasium and struggled with math until she was taught to see math as a puzzle waiting to be solved and suddenly math became fun and things began to click. She has a passion for working with students and inspiring future generations of math lovers. When she is not studying to be a teacher, she enjoys studying art history and Spanish.

Humaira Kashmary, Instructor

Humaira is currently a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, working towards a B.S. in Mathematics and Data Science. From a young age, she fell in love with numbers and became determined to pursue a career in mathematics. She shares a great interest in wanting to inspire young students and help guide them towards a path where they can also fall in love with math. In order to inspire students and spread her love for math, she enjoys tutoring and teaching math to students and aid them in gaining confidence in their math skills. Apart from studying mathematics, she enjoys spending time with her siblings and tutoring them in various math concepts. She is thrilled to join the team of Mathnasium at Huntersville and inspire young kids.

Mary Margaret, Instructor

Mary Margaret is a junior in high school. A life-long homeschooler, she is currently working towards completing her Associates in Science degree with a concentration in math and computer science through Central Piedmont Community College before graduating high school.  Her university plans include further study of mathematics and data analytics. Her favorite thing about math is its structure and logic. She believes that math is only confusing when a student does not understand the “why” behind a particular operation. She loves to witness the moment a lightbulb goes off in a student’s head and he/she finally understands the structure and logic behind the steps to completing a problem.

Ana Wilson, Instructor

Ana is a Junior at Virginia Tech studying Mathematics Education. She loves math because it is like solving a puzzle. Math has always been her favorite subject, and she loves getting to share it with others. Ana thinks math doesn't get the love it deserves and likes to help kids discover how much fun math can be.

Juliet Merschen, Instructor

Juliet went to college and double majored in Chemistry and Biology. After that, she taught high school science courses for 14 years.  During that time she began to teach more and more math classes and taught SAT and ACT math classes.  During the 2019-2020 school year Juliet completed her K-8 Math Specialist internship as part of her doctoral coursework.  She is currently working as a Math Specialist for 3-5th grade and is happy to be at Mathnasium where she can work with a wider age-range of students and help them to grow as mathematicians.

Jimmy Wirth, Instructor

Whats up, everybody! My name is Jimmy and I'm a senior at UNC Charlotte studying Computer Science. I am 22 and also in the Army Reserves. My parents always thought I was good with math and my girlfriend suggested I teach math, so here I am. I like teaching people new things, especially math. Math is a touchy subject because lots of people feel that they don't need it in the real world. I'm here to change that mindset and help those that need a new way to see how math works. I am very friendly and love talking to new people. If you ever see me, be sure to say hi!

Stella Cohen, Instructor

Stella is a freshman at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and is planning to double major in math and philosophy. So far, she has taken Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus and loves it! She hopes to prove to students that anyone can understand math with enough time and support. She thinks math is incredibly fun, and since she first learned how to do them in 5th grade, her favorite problems have been order of operations ones.
