DirectorAra Chakrabarti, Director

Ara is an Engineering Graduate from the University of Michigan. His professional career encompasses developing mathematical and geometric modeling software to managing Information Technology organization for large global corporations. Ara considers a sound understanding of mathematics to be instrumental to children's education, providing the foundation for one's ability to logically and methodically approach the challenges of today's complex world. Ara believes that the Mathnasium method of teaching math to children not only makes it easier for them to comprehend and understand math but also helps them develop a lifelong liking for this important subject.


Esther, Instructor

Esther has a B.S. in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She strongly believes in providing children with a solid foundation in mathematics and is especially excited about encouraging both boys and girls to pursue interests in math, science, and engineering. Esther is enthusiastic about the Mathnasium method because it helps students to learn and enjoy math at a young and critical age. 



Justine, Instructor

Justine has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and loves helping children learn math. She works as a math assistant at a high school during the school day and as a math instructor at Mathansium after school. Justine loves working with children who have a willingness to learn. She likes trying different ways of explaining a concept until it makes sense to a child. Justine hopes to help children achieve their math goals.


Allen, Instructor

Allen earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of North Texas and his Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma.  Using his math background, Allen spent his next forty years working in the corporate world first as a computer programmer and then as a senior IT executive. He has always liked mathematics and is enjoying working at Mathnasium because it allows him the opportunity to give back to the community.


Karen, Instructor

Karen is a sophomore attending Acalanes High School. She is enrolled in Honors Algebra II / Trig and is a member of the California Scholarship Federation. Karen participates in Track and Field as a Varsity discus and shot-put thrower. Karen greatly enjoys volunteering for shelters and local events, as well as serving as President of the Acalanes Key Club. She is also a staff writer for the Acalanes school newspaper, Blueprint. Karen loves working with people of all ages, and takes great joy in teaching new concepts no matter what the subject.


Elizabeth, Instructor

Elizabeth is a senior at Acalanes High School where she is taking Pre-Calculus. She is Co-President of the Acalanes Key Club, a community service and fundraising club, as well as a member of Sage Club and the Environmental Club. After school, Elizabeth runs Track and Field, participates in her school’s musical productions and likes to dance. She enjoys working with kids and hopes to continue teaching them and learning from them. 


Aneesa, Instructor

Aneesa is a junior at Acalanes High School and is currently taking Pre-Calculus. At Acalanes, Aneesa participates in and helps organize the Performing Arts Program. In her free time, Aneesa likes to read books and compose music. She enjoys working with children.


Amin, Instructor

Amin is a senior at Acalanes High School and is currently taking Calculus BC. At Acalanes, he plays in the band, participates in the 3-D Printing Club, and tutors other students in math and science. In his free time, Amin enjoys taking apart computers and putting them back together, using math to find the flaws in science-fiction movies, and taking late night walks for Pokemon Go.
