Steve Johnson

Instructor
Steve graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Mathematics. He taught high school math for 11 years before working at Sperry and Lockheed Martin for 25 years as a software engineer and project manager. Steve loves asking his 3 grandchildren mental math questions, playing in a church youth band, and applying innovative methods to help students learn math.

Jeanne Olson

Instructor
Jeanne is currently a licensed teacher with a B. S. degree in Elementary Education and has a Middle School certification in Math and Language Arts. She has taught in her own classroom in both public and private school settings. Jeanne enjoys reading, listening to music and playing music, knitting, designing cards, and seeing her students gain confidence and achieve success.

Tom Joseph

Instructor
Tom received his B. A. and M. A. degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He retired recently after serving 43 years as an elementary and middle school teacher and principal. During his "retirement" he has tutored students in math at several inner-city schools and has been involved in the development of a private school. Tom enjoys his 7 grandchildren, reading, working out, kayaking, and traveling.

Terri Joseph

Instructor
Terri recently retired after teaching middle school math for 31 years. She received a B. S. degree in Math from the University of Wisconsin and an M. A. degree from the University of St. Thomas. She's thankful to have found a job at Mathnasium where she can continue to work with young people. Hanging out with her 7 grandchildren, reading and traveling are leisure activities that Terri most enjoys.

Peggy Pechacek

Instructor
Peggy earned a B. S. degree in mathematics and computer science and a M. A. degree in Education. She taught middle school and high school math for 19 years and worked as a systems engineer, and in between these two seasons of work she devoted herself to raising 4 children who are now adults. Peggy enjoys seeing students grow in confidence.

Lara Silverthorn

Instructor
Lara is a high school junior. She's been teaching at Mathnasium for 9 months. After she graduates she is considering several careers -- mathematician, biochemist, FBI agent, bodyguard, or forensic pathologist. Lara has played the piano for more than 11 years and has won a state-wide competition three times. She has enjoyed getting to know the kids at Mathnasium and helping them grow in their math knowledge.

Ayla Steigerwald

Instructor
Ayla is taking classes at the University of Minnesota and St. Cloud State University though she's a freshman in high school. She was a student at Mathnasium in Lakeville for 6 years prior to joining the staff this past year. Alya has tutored kids at multiple levels of math and is a member of the Math team at Farmington High School. In her spare time she enjoys reading, solving math problems, and photography.
