Hello! I’m Carol Wall and I’ve been a private math tutor for 12 years, including 2 years as a private teacher for two competitive skiers in Vail, Colorado. I received a degree in marketing and advertising from Michigan State University, but always had a passion for numbers. I worked as a media buyer negotiating contracts for television and radio, and then as an account executive managing budgets. When 2 of my children were diagnosed with learning differences, I took time off from my advertising career to help them navigate school. I found I had a gift for teaching math to students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and other learning differences. So, I started my own tutoring business and have been very busy for the past 12 years. I came to Mathnasium because most of my students graduated or were succeeding at math on their own. After an interview and trial day, I knew this place was for me! Getting to impact so many children’s lives by helping them make sense of numbers and understand how math is used every day in our world is very rewarding!
In 5 years I will be: Semi-retired as a math tutor and traveling to beaches around the world.
Fun Fact: I was a ski instructor while taking math and engineering courses at Michigan Technological University
Hobbies: Board game nights, Going to mountain town cabins to hike, explore and have campfires, swimming at our neighborhood pool in the summers, and trail riding on our three horses, Bentley, Sterling and Luna.

Hi! My name is Conor. I earned a degree in applied math from the University of Colorado Boulder. I'm annoyed, but understanding, when people put me on a pedestal for being good at math. What I've learned for myself, and from my professors, is that being successful in math isn't predetermined at birth, but rather a result of hard work, just like any other skill. This fact, in addition to the math itself, is what I want students to learn. I want them to be able to use their mathematical abilities when necessary and learn more math if that is something they want/need to do. I was attracted to Mathnasium because of it's demonstrated success in helping students excel in math. I know what it feels like to shift from being confused by a math concept to understanding it, and want to help Mathnasium's students achieve the same feeling.
In my free time you will find me reading, hiking, spending time with my family (and dogs!), playing disc golf, and, of course, doing math! My current math project is working to understand the water waves that arise in my Nalgene bottle.
Favorite Number and Why: 3435. Because 3 3 + 4 4 + 3 3 + 5 5 = 3435.
Favorite Math Joke: Have you heard about the mathematician who is afraid of negative numbers? He will stop at nothing to avoid them!
In 5 years I will be . . . . Studying applied math in graduate school.
Fun Fact: I can solve a Rubik’s cube in under a minute. I can also solve cubes with 4, 5, 6, and 7 layers (the normal Rubik’s cube has 3 layers).
Hi my name is Sullivan (that's my last name but it is how I preferred to be called). I am privileged to be part of building confidence in a difficult subject. I want to foster a tenacious mindset: the belief that difficulties can be overcome with perseverance. I believe that mindset will serve students well throughout their lives, even beyond the realm of math. I liked math in middle school, but my high school did not have a good math program. I knew I needed a high SAT score to get into my college of choice, so I studied on my own. I often wished I knew someone who could help. After college, I noticed my friend Zach would always come back from work with an interesting story, energized by a passion for teaching. I thought: hey, I'd like to teach math too!
Favorite Number and Why: My favorite number is 60 because it can be neatly divided so many ways: it has 12 factors, and the first six factors are in sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. This is why we use it for measuring time. The number 72 is also good, but not as good.
Favorite Math Joke: There are three kinds of people in this world; those who can count, and those who can't.
What are your dreams? I want to design tabletop role playing games (like Dungeons & Dragons): create imaginative spaces where people can strive and play as avatars of their best selves.

Hi my name is Luke. I am an undergraduate student at Colorado School of Mines. I am currently studying Engineering Physics with a Minor in Applied Mathematics. I have always loved math and science, and I love helping others enjoy learning it as well. I grew up in Elko, Nevada, a place with plenty of mountains, so naturally, I love hiking, skiing, camping, and spending time outdoors. I think that being good at math isn’t s skill that your born with, but it’s something that you can get better at through practice, and hard work. I’ve struggled with math in the past, and the reason I’ve succeeded is by asking for help and trying to deeply understand the concepts. I used to be a college STEM tutor, and I was able to help student who struggled with the basics of math succeed in their classes.
Favorite Number: 52 has always been my favorite number. I don’t think there’s any specific reason. Maybe its because 5+2 = 7, the universal lucky number.
Favorite Math Joke: How do you make seven even?. . . .Take away the S.
I love Mathnasium because . . . . .I can see how impactful it is on kids’ lives. It’s always awesome to see someone who struggled at math start to excel at it.

Hi! My name is Jason, and I'm an upcoming Senior at ThunderRidge High School. I'm part of the football team, and love being outdoors and staying active. I decided to apply at Mathnasium because it seemed like the perfect place for a first job. I have never had any trouble with math in school, and being an older sibling as well as helping my mom run her at-home daycare has given me experience working with kids. I thought why not put my talents to use making a positive difference in a child's life instead of flipping burgers in a greasy kitchen? While working here at Mathnasium, my primary goal is obviously to teach math to students and deepen their understanding of math. However, I hope that while teaching these students can develop an attitude of perseverance that will help them not only in math but for the rest of their lives.
Favorite Number: 1 is my favorite number because it's the only positive integer that's not a prime or composite number.

Hello my name is Jacob, I graduated from Colorado School of Mines with an undergrad degree in statistics in 2020. I have recently moved back to Colorado and am pursuing a masters degree online through the University of Florida. One of my goals is to help make math more accessible to people in their everyday life, and I believe that being a part of the mathnasium team will help to accomplish this goal.
