Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

 

CenterDirectorKristen Tomorszki, Center Director + Owner

Having served in a variety of roles throughout education, Kristen comes to Mathnasium with a wealth of experience. It is her mission to ensure that Mathnasium of Lakewood is the safe and happy place for your kids to improve their math skills. 

Kristen started her career in education as a home tutor in high school and has been helping students ever since. She has worked as a paraeducator for autistic and hearing-impaired children, a sales representative for Pearson Education, and a general manager for test-preparation learning centers in Miami, Florida.

She earned her BA in Communications from the University of Michigan and her MA in Educational Technology Leadership from George Washington University.

Kristen is passionate about travel and adventure, and she loves roadtrips and hiking. She loves to play games with students and is super-competitive.

 

 

  


Avery, Lead Instructor

Avery has earned both his Associates of Science and his Associates of Arts from Red Rocks Community College. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Economics from CSU Global.

In his spare time, Avery enjoys coding and writing music. He wrote the code for Mathnasium to calculte student rewards, and he is composing music for a friend's video game.

Avery competes in various 5Ks, full and half marathons, and Spartan races. Although the date is still depending on Covid restrictions, he is training for his first Ironman Triathlon. Avery is also an avid snowboarder and skier.



Julia, Lead Instructor

Julia is a senior at D'Evelyn High school who wants to be an aerospace engineer due to her love of math and science. In her free time, Julia plays soccer, runs cross - country skiis, hikes, and reads. At school she is involved in Girl's Mentoring, mock trial, the Society of Women Engineers, and Mu Alpha Theta. 

Julia lives in Golden and has two older brothers and a labradoodle named Rocky. She started working at Mathnasium in the summer of 2019 and loves seeing kids conquer math ideas that they have previously struggled with.

 


Bennett, Instructor

Bennett is orginally from Texas and is now enjoying life on the Front Range. He is pursuing a degree in computer engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and spends significant time working with children in STEM activities.

Bennett loves math and helping anyone he can. He has a passion for photography and 3D printing, and he is always going outdoors to hike (ask him about taking new kitten Leila into the wild outdoors!). 

 


 

Gracie, Instructor

Gracie is enrolled as a Junior at Bear Creek High School and plans to major in either mathematics or engineering. She loves to read, write, and do math. In her free time, Gracie plays lacrosse, sings, plays guitar, skiis, and motorbikes. "I like to constantly challenge myself by taking chances, such as in my classes or by doing something that is out of my comfort zone. And I really love to see smiles!"

 

 


Vivian, Instructor

Vivian is in the IB program at Lakewood High School and is also involved in the theater program. She volunteers weekly at Lutheran Hospital, visiting with hospice patients. Her patient demeanor and passion for helping others led Vivian to plan on majoring in pre - Med in college.

In her spare time, Vivan loves film production and will soon have a short film premiere in a film festival. She also loves to hike.


Thomas, Instructor

Thomas is a new arrival to Denver. He joins us from California where he earned his Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts: Math and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geographic Information Systems. His educational experience is vast; he has taught college algebra, substituted in the public school system, tutored privately, and developed learning programs while working for the library system. Along with enjoying sports, his hobbies include playing chess and video games as well as following the stock market. Thomas loves his new home state and looks forward to all the adventures that await him in Colorado.


Kylee, Instructor

Kylee is a senior at D’evelyn High School and began tutoring at Mathnasium during Summer of 2020. Outside of Mathnasium, Kylee finds herself playing softball and soccer, and one of her strongest passions is competing in ski races. Every once in a while, Kylee loves to get away with her family to more tropical parts of the world and spend hours on the beach and in the ocean. In the future, she plans to attend college in California and escape the cold weather with a strong interest in Data Science. Kylee enjoys working with numbers and applying them to the real world, which is why teaching kids the ins and outs of math is very exciting.


Maddie, Instructor

Maddie is currently a junior at D’evelyn High School, who began tutoring at Mathnasium during the summer of 2020. Maddie plans on attending college for mechanical engineering or applied mathematics due to her love for math. Maddie enjoys working with kids and finding new ways to explain mathematical concepts, which makes teaching math very fun. Other academic activities Maddie is involved in include Sources of Strength, Girls Mentoring, and National Honors Society. In Maddie’s free time, she enjoys playing soccer, skiing, dirt bike riding, mountain biking, and pretty much anything outdoors. Maddie lives in Golden with a 155-pound English Mastiff, named Tinkerbell.
