Scott Penkova, Regional Director
Scott has worked with Mathnasium, first as a Center Director in Fort Mitchell and now as the Regional Director of four locations, Blue Ash, Mason, West Chester and Fort Mitchell, KY. He came to Mathnasium after working for years in different school settings, from public to private, and brick and mortar to online! He uses the many different experiences to help students achieve high levels of understanding in mathematics. He works closely with all of his Centers' staffs to make sure that they are giving the same emphasis on understanding and passion towards what we do. He still works on instructing students in our one-on-one model but also enjoys being able to cultivate each instructor into the best teacher they can be. When he isn't working you will find him spending time with his wife and two children. He also enjoys being outside and reading books.
Susan Helgeson, Assistant Center Director
Susan is a retired High School Mathematics teacher. She taught Math for 40 years, the last 27 years at Sycamore High School. She has taught Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus and AB Calculus. She has always loved math, as well as loved teaching math. Mathnasium gives her the opportunity to continue to instruct students of all math abilities. She loves to read, exercise, watch sports, spend time with her husband, two daughters and son-in-laws.
Student Instructors
Kiera is currently a sophomore at Sycamore Highschool. She loves to do art and play golf. 18 is her favorite number because her birthday is on that day, along with her dad and grandpa. Her favorite math joke is that there are three kinds of people in the world: ones who can count and ones who can not. In five years, Kiera hopes to be attending college and working towards a fulfilling career.
Avery is currently a Junior at Loveland High School. Her favorite classes so far have been Biotech and Drawing and Painting. Originally, she was attending Schilling her freshmen year, but moved back to Loveland her sophomore year. She also participates in Loveland varsity bowling. Her favorite number is 15 because her birthday is on that day and her birthday is famously known as the Ides of March. Her favorite math joke is "What's two plus two? Five because if you have two ropes with two knots and tie them together you have five knots all together". In five years, she hopes to be working towards a career in science at a really good college.
Jake is currently a sophomore at Sycamore High School. He is currently taking Precalculus and AP Statistics. He also plays tennis for the school team. Jake's favorite number is 6, because that was his old soccer jersey number. His favorite joke is about imaginary numbers, but most people don't consider them real jokes. In five years, Jake will likely be majoring in business or economics.
