Q1: ๐ก What is the most rewarding part of working with Mathnasium students?
A: The most rewarding part of working here at Mathnasium is honestly changing student's lives. I would have never believed that what I do could make such a big difference in a kid. I get to hear how they are helping others, teaching teachers some of our strategies, and learning to like and sometimes, even love math.
Q2: ๐ What is one math tip or trick you often share with students?
A: My favorite go to is how to add numbers mentally, especially doubling big numbers. So when I introduce this, I get them to add 37 + 37 and teach them how to double 30 and then double 7 to get 60 +14 for a total of 74. That's a game changer for most kids that you can decompose numbers and put them back together in easier ways.
Q3: ๐ What qualities do you see in students who make the most progress at Mathnasium?
A: The kids who make the most progress come consistently. They also set meaningful page goals for each session and work hard to crush the goal. They get extra stars for exceeding a page goal and working hard.
