May News from Mathnasium of Diamond Bar

May 10, 2019 | Diamond Bar

As the school year draws to a close it's time to start thinking about summer — specifically, how your child will avoid the summer slide that haunts so many students. Mathnasium is here to help! Whether you're planning an exciting vacation or intend to stay home and do some staycations, we have just the right summer program to fit your schedule.

While summer is primarily time for fun in the sun, it’s also when your child’s math knowledge is in danger of slipping away. On average, students lose about 2.6 months of learning in math over the summer. The good news is, there are ways to combat what educators call, “the summer slide.”

The summer months are the ideal time to reinforce last year’s learning and introduce new concepts that will help in the year ahead. Children have more time, are less tired, and are better able to focus when they don’t have the burden of classes, homework and extracurricular activities.
