Math Monday📐

Today we are exploring real world examples of the number one and segments. _________________________________

One: It represents a single entity, the unit of counting or measurement. For example, a line segment of unit length is a line segment of length 1. In real life, we use this number every day. We use it to count our fingers, to order a drink, etc. _________________________________

Segment: The part of a line that connects two points. It is the shortest distance between the two points. It has a length. We can see segments all around us! From one end of a shelf to the other, we can connect the points and make a segment. _________________________________

What real-world examples can you find in your day-to-day life? Applying mathematical concepts to tangible objects can help students of all ages understand exactly what they mean!
