Get to Know Our Center Director, Kanen!

May 7, 2020 | Granite Bay

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week,
we got someone from our marketing team to interview our
center director, Kanen Ishimoto just for fun!

“Thank you for letting me interview you for our blog, Kanen.”

No problem. Seems fun.

“Let’s start with a cliché question. When is your birthday?”

Hehe, it’s actually next week. May 12th.

“Oh! Happy early birthday! Do you live in Granite Bay?”

No. I recently moved to Citrus Heights from my hometown of Santa Clara in Southern California.

“Interesting. Tell me about school or past jobs.”

I finished my Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Physics in 2018 from UC Davis. I have also been in tutoring and education related work for the last six years.

“When did you join Mathnasium?”

Last year on October 5th. I used to work at the Rocklin location with Josh Webb and then got transferred over to become the center director of Granite Bay.

“We’re excited to have you as a part of our team!"

I'm happy to be here, myself.

What do you love most about working with students?”

Getting to change students’ perceptions of Math into a positive one and encouraging their interests in math and sciences!

“When you’re not working at Mathnasium, what are your top three hobbies?”

Well, I enjoy playing video games and tabletop games. Also, I love to play with my animals.

“What is one interesting fact about yourself you’d like to share?”

I compete in tournaments for Super Smash Bros.

“What?! That’s amazing! You'll have to tell me more about that."

"Well, thank you for chatting with me. I can’t wait for our families to read this!”

Thank you for having me.
