Throughout 2018, Mathnasium has awarded grants to local teachers to provide their classrooms with additional resources. For the final grant of the year, we went to Normal Park Lower School where we awarded a grant to Art Teacher Sarah Beddoe. These resources will be used to renovate the free choice area of Ms Beddoe's classroom. "I feel that many of my current options in the free choice area are broken, out of date, and do not align well with our new TN art standards" she says, "New materials and activities will greatly improve the quality of my instruction and make art exploration meaningful for my students."
Ms Beddoe plans to use these funds to purchase new reference books for her students, as well as whiteboards and markers. One of the first additions had already been installed when Hixson Center Director Mark Watlington and Mr A+ went to visit. Ms Beddoe had installed a LEGO wall, which she refers to as a "fluid art project" that will be continually changing as students add and remove pieces throughout the year.

While students were waiting for their turn to get cupcakes, they drew on paper that Ms Beddoe had stretched across their tables. Many of them found Mr A+ interesting and tried their hand at draing him!
