Any and all structures must be built on foundation. Foundation lays the groundwork and the basis for what gets built on top of it. This applies even to mental structures, such as math learning.
When you think about foundational skills in math learning, the main topics that come up are the main four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and the multiplication "times tables". While these are some of the most important skills when moving forward in math, there are other factors that are not typically considered but are just as important.
Is your student capable of working with their fractions, decimals, and percentages? Can they work with ratios and proportions? Even processing and executing word problems are significant in the foundation for every student of every level.
These are all important to strengthen the foundation they need to be successful for this school year, the next school year, the school year after that, and so on!
Here at Mathnasium, we can help their foundation so they can build on top it for a brighter future.
