Give STEM Gifts that are Fun and Engaging

Dec 4, 2018 | Kendall

Want to give a gift that is both fun and educational this year?  We’ve dug up some cool options that will engage kids in STEM in a meaningful way.  These fun STEM activities develop creative thinking skills, problem solving, cause and effect and more.

Do more with your Legos!

Looking to add an element of physics to your Lego game?  Check out Lego Chain Reactions - an instruction book by Klutz that includes a handful of Lego elements and the other supplies needed to make several different chain reaction machines.  Add your bin of Legos and you’re ready for some exciting physics fun! The instruction book guides you through setting up your chain reactions (troubleshooting included) that range from easy to advanced.  Use the set to keep building your own chains and let your imagination run wild.

Try combining the Chain Reactions set with Klutz Lego Gadgets for even more creative building fun.  This set will guide kids through building 50+ gadgets from silly to useful.  Lego chocolate milk stirrer? Catapult? Rock ‘em, Sock ‘em Robot? It’s got them all and more.  Something tells me that using both sets together could lead to some pretty impressive inventions … just saying…

Perfect Stocking Stuffers

Check out Set for a fun family card game that challenges your brain.  In this game, the cards have 4 features: symbols, color, shading, and number of symbols.  Cards are laid out on a surface and players must find sets of three cards. A set is three cards in which each individual feature is either all the same on each card or all different on each card.  Watch the tutorial on the Amazon link above and then get ready to be addicted! This game promotes spacial relationships, critical thinking, logical reasoning and visual perception. It’s also available in Junior and Dice versions.  A round only takes 20 minutes and can be played by 1 or more players - perfect for after dinner!
