Stuff the Bus 2019

Mathnasium of La Jollan is proud to announce that our 17 locations in San Diego will be sponsoring Stuff the Bus, a school supply drive run by the San Diego County Office of Education and SDCCU benefiting students experiencing homelessness.

More than 22,000 school-aged children were identified as homeless during the last school year.  Students who are homeless face many hardships,—school supplies should not be one of them. That’s why Mathnasium has partnered with the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE), San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), and iHeartMedia radio stations in support of Live Well San Diego to collect school supplies for students experiencing homelessness. Homelessness is not limited to urban, downtown San Diego—it affects suburban school districts all over the county. We want these students to start the year with the supplies they need just like all of their peers. Your donation can help us do that! Last year we were able to deliver over 6,000 backpacks and 200,000 school supplies to students in San Diego County!

In-Kind Support - Donation of School Supplies

If you would like to support Stuff the Bus by donating new, unopened school supplies, our learning center has a large white box for collecting the following school supplies:

• Binder paper (wide or college ruled)

• Colored pencils
• Crayons
• Erasers
• Flashcards
• Glue sticks
• Highlighters

Mathnasium of La Jolla is the closest donation site for families living in La Jolla and Torrey Pines. Mathnasium of La Jolla is located at 915 Pearl St, Suite D/E, La Jolla, CA 92037.

Monetary Support - Card Donations

We will have a Mathnasium punch card donation bin by the prize cabinet for students who are interested in donating their cards to SDCOE's fundraiser for purchasing backpacks and school supplies. All donations will be made directly to Phenomenal Families. 

Mathnasium will proudly acknowledge your student’s generosity with a Donation card (pictured left) on our Brag Board. 

Card donations break down as follows:

• 8 Cards = 1 Elementary Backpack
• 10 Cards = 1 Secondary Backpack or 1 Basic Supply Kit
• 15 Cards = 1 Filled Elementary Backpack
• 25 Cards = 1 Filled Secondary Backpack
• 150 Cards = 1 Case of Elementary Backpacks
